Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
« on: November 25, 2020, 05:37:57 am »
Hi All -

I'm starting to bang my head against the wall and I think posting here may be able to help alleviate some of my frustration.

I'm consulting on a project that is utilizing some old ICs that were manufactured by Realtek Semiconductor Corp. (Realtek) and that are now obsolete. There website is here: https://www.realtek.com/en/. I have spent the better part of 2 months trying to get in contact with anyone at Realtek who I can at least ask some questions to and to see if they have recommendations on alternative parts that I should be looking into with no luck.   I've gone so far as to contact their distributors to try to start some kind of conversation with them.   One woman I spoke to for one of their distributors just gave me a long sigh when I mentioned that I was trying to get in contact with them because even they have a hell of a time getting any communication going.

My ask and wonder is whether or not there is anyone out there that has made contact with someone at Realtek and whether or not you would be willing to provide me with an introduction.  This is a silly form of crowdsourcing this problem, but I'm starting to run out of options.

Please, please, please send me a direct message or respond below if you have had any communications with someone at Realtek in the past.

Thank you so much, in advance.

IIRC I had surprisingly good distributor support for Realtek from Future Electronics here in the UK.

Even though they're known for being a high volume, low cost supplier of commodity devices, I was still able to get technical data and parts in modest quantities. This was about 10 years back, when I was designing specialised Ethernet switches; the number of potential suppliers for the necessary silicon was very limited, but Realtek were by far the easiest to deal with via that route.

Why not outline your chip problem here, there are a wide range of  professionally experienced folk on this forum, expect a few of them will be well aquainted with the Realtek chips.

Try their distributors, which seems to be Future in the USA. Even if you cannot get them to answer any questions, at least you could talk to someone who talked to them previsouly.
