STM32C0 series?

I upgraded STM32CubeMX to version 6.5 the other day, and I found a new STM32C0 series in the MCU list, the software package is also available for download, but I can't find any information about it. Does anyone know what's new in this series?

There's this PDF, which references an STM32C031, but it's in Chinese and I didn't bother to run it through a translator.

I'd assume it's some kind of variant of STM32G.

I'd assume it's some kind of variant of STM32G.

I saw this document when I googled it for the first time two days ago, Chinese is my native language, so I didn't have any difficulty reading it. Sadly, like you said, it's only about testing whether the new STM32C0 series has a certain flaw that existed in the old STM32G0 series, and doesn't mention why this new series exists for what purpose.

C0 Nucleo is coming - https://www.st.com/resource/en/data_brief/nucleo-f030r8.pdf
Not much of details in it, but contains links to Nucleo board user manual as well as particular MCU product page, though both leading to Error 404 page at the moment.

Support for the STM32C0 series is mentioned in the release notes: https://www.st.com/resource/en/release_note/rn0094-stm32cubemx-release-650-stmicroelectronics.pdf
Can also be found in a number of newer app notes (not just in chinese!), like:  https://www.st.com/resource/en/application_note/cd00167594-stm32-microcontroller-system-memory-boot-mode-stmicroelectronics.pdf

But this series is not advertised anywhere on STM's website as of yet. From the codename we can assume it's probably based on a Cortex-M0+.

It looks like the STM32C0 series means a low cost M0+, running at 48MHz, lower pin count, and less flash/SRAM.

It is indeed an 8-bit MCU killer. Think STM32G0 but even lower cost and less memory.

...and, if the rest of the STM32 range is anything to go by, completely unavailable to buy and therefore irrelevant unless you happen to work for a Tier 1 preferred customer.

I wonder if it's actually just a die shrunk version of something that already exists, which customers will be gently persuaded to migrate to so ST can get more chips out of each wafer. Can't see any new product launches making sense otherwise until they get their absolutely dire supply situation under control.

I extracted the parametric data from CubeIde 1.9.0, here's the table.
They've made a SOIC-8 stm32  :popcorn:

The G0 Parts already had a soic-8 part IIRC.

Yea these looks like a very small low cost micro.
i think AndyC may be correct in thinking these may be a die shrink, or a new revision of either the G) or F0 line.

It could also be something out of left feild and maybe be a M23 based part rather than an M0/M0+ part?

I use STM32CubeMX and people can't ignore the STM32C0 series at the top of the MCU list, which is why I started this thread. But other than that I can't find any more information, like if there are any new features in this series.

1.7 x 1.42mm ...? That whole device would fit in the space I'd use for a single test point.

Crazy, yet at the same time, oddly compelling. I wonder where I could hide one?

Finally updated the Cube on my local system.
Does ineed look like an m0+.


Interestingly the project doesnt seem to have an option to enable freertos. But in its place they seem to now have threadx.
But i think by the looks of things they seem to have low power support baked into the rtos. So fingers crossed the low power impl is much better than the freertos impl

You mean that one showing 15 ADC converters, right?
I also noticed, not my fault, that table is generated by CubeMX (Export option).
Knowing ST, there're lots of errors to fix  :D

That row, plus all the others showing 0 physical 12-bit ADCs but >0 ADC input channels. Either the chip does have an ADC, or the number of channels should be zero.

Can't help but think the best feature this range could possibly have, would be stock @ Digi-key and Mouser  :'(

Yes, there are a lot of contradictions in the data, you can even see they claiming that the STM32C011F6U6TR has a total of 15 built-in 12-bit ADCs.  |O

It would be very interesting if there is a series of STM32 that can work at 5V, unfortunately the data I have seen for the STM32C0 series are still 3.3V devices.

There are just internal 3.3V regulators and lower core voltages, etc. inside. SAMC looks like it has a linear reg, but some ICs even have integrated DC/DC.
It can be nice as you are able to run directly off of USB voltage. Or your system may have 5V peripherals, and then only one 5V regulator is needed for everything.
Profile -> Modify profile -> Look and Layout ->  Don't show users' signatures
