I would say it is highly likely he's lying yeah. It is what they have been doing for the past week.. But everything else in the message seems legit, so I wanted to give them a chance pending someone confirming the eBay having problems fib

Their problem is that this mess will destroy their ebay seller rating beyond repair (for 12 months anyway)
ebay are incredibly strict on sellers, just a few fractions of a % poor ratings or cancelled orders can lead you to have poor ratings, the feedback figure is pretty meaningless they catch you all sorts of ways.
This guy is in big trouble as all these cancelled orders will probably leave him "below standard" and they will limit the $ amount of stuff he can list, for a bot/scrape account that relies on mass listings that's pretty bad!

I wouldn't panic, ebay will sort all the buyers accounts out. It might be hassle but that's what you get for trying to work the system.

I really should keep well outside of the crime scene tape.

But I have seen, no bullshit, an ebay seller listing $5
( FIVE DOLLAR ) multimeters for the bargain price of
$15.000 ( FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ) and not just
once, he list's them all the time.

Wonder what would happen if say a kid with down syndrome
clicked buy now without suppervision, what's Ebay do then ?.

Scarey bloddy stuff.

What would happen if that kid clicked and bought a $15K multimeter that was worth $15K? He's still down that amount with a useless bit of kit, so what makes that a legit sale and the other not?

It's not Ebay's problem (though no doubt Twitter would make it so eventually). It's the problem of whoever is meant to be looking after the kids.

The unknown variant is what is enforceable without penalty,
and what is considered a reasonable transaction under law.

The example I put to you was nothing more than a disgusting
ebay parasitic prick who continually puts himself in a prime
position to prey on the less informed and vulnerable.

Or a vendor with a temporary lack of stock who doesn't want to pay relisting fees so prices the item at a value no-one will buy at until he gets new stock.

This was already covered much earlier in the thread, they raise the price through the roof when they have no stock.

Is this thread still going on ???  :-DD
Do the job right the first time.  Quality over quantity will save you in the long run.

They clearly haven't fixed their mess yet, as I found this while searching eBay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LATTICE-SEMICONDUCTOR-LATTICE-ECP2-MICO32-DSP-FPGA-DEV-BOARD-LFE2-50E-D-EVN-/191414856729

They have raised the price to AU $2,240.00 and listed it as "out of stock".  So maybe somebody is minding the store(?)

Of course, they never responded to my question, and the listing shows "No questions or answers have been posted about this item."

I finally got a reply back from street-autoparts:

Quote
New message from: street-autoparts (14235)
Hi,
Thank you for your email.
Definitely not a scammer.
We are having system issues at the moment. The system glitch automatically set the prices of some of our items way below its true value. The issue was caused by a bug within our system that hasn't been resolved yet.
Regards,
Riyah

But they are back at it again.  Listing multiple items that have nothing to do with auto parts, and at absurdly low default prices.  It would be interesting to know what kind of a system does such absurd foolishness and apparently is out of control for days or weeks.

They have 167,498 items listed for auction/sale!   |O   :-DD

But then, lest you think that their out-of-control system lists only expensive items for absurdly low prices, consider this listing:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TE-CONNECTIVITY-SMA-JAM-NUT-2-332004-0-/191401178680?pt=AU_Electronics_Wholesale_Electronics&hash=item2c90663638

Step right up, folks. Up for auction is a SINGLE Jam Nut with 1/4-36 UNS-2B threads.
This is something that you can buy a bag of 100 for around $5-10
But our friends at street-parts are listing a single nut for AU $16.74.
And shipping for this item which weighs a tiny fraction of an ounce, will cost AU $61.50 for "AusPost Express Courier International"

So, indeed their "system" is wildly out of control and apparently listing random items at random prices.
if I were Ebay, I would suspend their "store" until they got their act together.

Got a new message from them when i asked why they took so long to cancel the order on Ebay.

Hi,

We already called eBay about this, they're also having system glitch.

It will be cancelled once the glitch has been fixed

Rest assured that you wont get strike us unpaid item

Regards,

Riyah

So Ebay have a glitch too.... yeah.... i never expected to get the PSU so i was not surprised when this got downhill but for now they seem to blame everything and nothing move... Got my refund on Paypal (but missing 4$, fee or exchange rate maybe) so i'm not worried about my $$$ but i didn't know how it was hard to get some help on Ebay when this kind of stuff happen. At first i wanted to give no feedback since i didn't expected anything from this sale but now i think it's a good thing to leave a negative one to let other know how pathetic a sale can be with this seller...

When I have had to get a refund from a dodgy deal (obviously fake seller without the product, using photos from a different auction), Ebay wouldn't do a thing until after the expected delivery date, presumably to ensure that it really was a bad transaction.

Perhaps that's the problem here? Ebay won't cancel the sale on your say-so this soon, and maybe the vendor is running up against a similar issue on his side.

Having said that, I won a cheap laptop for 50p and unsurprisingly the vendor turned out to have sold it elsewhere the day before and 'forgotten' it was listed on Ebay. He refunded me and the sale remained unpaid until... well, it probably still is. Doesn't appear to have done me any harm, and at least I was the allowed to give him a serious neg (his only one, but every one counts nowadays).

I had a similar (if not identical) reply about the "glitch" and that it was eBay's problem.

I am not sure they're being wholly honest: I spent 45 minutes on the phone to eBay on this on Monday as I had five unpaid items. EBay say the seller didn't use the correct procedure to cancel the order, apparently the seller has to get an authorisation from eBay to cancel a sale.

So either the seller wass trying to avoid getting a bad vibe by cancelling the Patpal transaction only, or they genuinely were trying to refund the money right away without understanding the implications.

What with the 45 minutes on the phone to eBay and 20 minutes to Paypal to get my account unlocked, it's not been a fun transaction!

It seem Ebay removed some of the seller negative feedback, mine included. So it seem to be working in the favour of the seller.

Edit : Ebay remove all the negative feedback from the Keithley listing, i counted 7 at first, 1 hours later 5 was deleted, now it seem to have only 1 left. Very strange situation.

Street-autoparts still have 167,065 items for sale, most of which appear to have nothing to do with auto parts.
The Ebay statistics show:
Vehicle Parts & Accessories: 32,219
Sound & Vision: 134,841

And they are still showing tens of thousands of items from trivial nuts and bolts to high-end development systems for completely random prices, uncorrelated to the actual value of the items.

i think if found why the negative feedback is removed like that, the seller use a trick and i think there how.

From Ebay seller update fall 2013

Automatic safeguards

The new Feedback Removal policy clearly outlines when eBay will automatically remove feedback and low ratings or award 5-star ratings. In general:

Negative or neutral feedback and low ratings are removed automatically when our information shows that the feedback was left by a buyer who, for example, didn't pay, was suspended, or shows a pattern of leaving low feedback.

So the Seller don't cancel on ebay but refund with paypal, tell you ebay have a glitch and do nothing so all the negative feedback will be automatically removed by the system since the item is not paid by everyone !! clever no ??

it is possible ?? anyone who sell on ebay can tell me if you can do something like that ??

Sounds like a legit possibility. Especially since people who still "have" paid (like me, since attempt #3 on sunday) won't leave a negative feedback just yet, to give them a chance to cancel the sale the right way. Tried to make an eBay case out of it but I have to wait until "estimated delivery" on friday (next week)  :-DD

Nonsense, who wouldn't pay $220 for a 10-turn potentiometer (value ~$10), or $11.14 for TI zigbee development kit (value ~$700). How has ebay not shut down these clowns.  :palm:

Still got nothing from ebay. I just sent out another message asking to cancel the order. At least he lost his top sellers rating.

I have just received my payment back, yet again (and yes, direct via PayPal, again, leaving a unpaid item in eBay, again  :palm: ). Took them a full week this time (made it last monday, was the 3th time). Send them a couple of messages about why they keep canceling the wrong way, and that it is not my problem if it hurts their internal rating cause it is their system that messed up.

So, I did the adult thing to do.... Paid again (number 4) and send messages to both them (again) and eBay complaining about these joker methods   :-DD

Ebay magic.. Feedback from unpaid items is deleted automatically (within 24 hours or so). So by refunding direct using PayPal and not from eBay, item gets to be unpaid causing feedback to be auto-wiped  ??? Couple of hours ago spotted about ~6 or 7 negative comments regarding the Keithley's. Now there is only one left..

What happens if you mark the item paid? I did that a few days ago, but have not left feed back yet.
