I don't know of a good source of knobs for these outside of finding another HP parts donor instrument of some kind that used the same style knobs as what you need there.

Out of curiosity, since you've got both types of 3580 there, do you have a preference between the version with the little crank and mechanical assembly for the frequency selection or the one where it's done digitally and displayed in the LED readout?

Hi,
thanks for your reply.
if i couldn't find any i might try to customize some knobs but i'll do my best to find originals.
as for which i prefer ?
in fact I saw that the mechanical ha bit faster response when it comes to choosing frequency than that of digital .
on the other hand The mechanical one has the 002 option which allows you to choose between balanced and unbalanced . actually  between terminated bridged and unbridged. while the digital does not have this option.

Yikes, those are huge pictures!  To answer the OP question:  I have a machine shop at home, and if I couldn't find replacement knobs for the HP 3580a, I'd make new ones out of aluminum.  Yeah, they wouldn't match the originals, but they wouldn't "rot" from exposure to UV light like the original plastic knobs.

I have a dozen new (NOS) 03580-67407 knobs, as pictured, that I don't plan on using.
However, international shipping is currently a problem for me.
I was actually thinking of selling the entire stock on the famous auction site, but only locally or at most in the EU.

Is international shipping a problem because it's crazy expensive, or is it some other restriction?  I'd pay to get those knobs, but I am in the US.  Thanks in advance.

I'm currently selling the knobs on ePay.... I've made two lots, and one has just sold.
There's a 5 pcs lot left.
I think it's only visible in the EU since I don't sell outside.
The reason I don't sell outside the EU is that here, for a private individual, they've made the bureaucratic formalities so complicated that they're putting people off international shipping.
