Spent a few days soldering THT last week with a 936 clone, conical tip and cheap .3mm solder. What I've learned, get some bigger stuff (and order in some new chisel tips!). The amount you had to feed in was ridiculous!

Yes - I use 0.8mm for most stuff but there are times when it's just too much, like touching up QFPs after braiding off shorts, 0402s etc. and that's when the 0.3 comes out .
