The best universal programmer. dic 2024
« on: December 18, 2024, 12:46:19 am »
Hello team, I open this forum to ask you about a piece of equipment.

I have an industrial electronics repair shop, for VFD, Servodrive, HMI, PLC, etc.
Next year I need to replace some equipment and one of these equipment is the Universal Programmer.

What is the best equipment today in December 2024? In my search I found: Top max 3, Dataman, Galep5, Elnec

Please I need your help and recommendations.

I have used LabTool-48XP. The latest LabTool-48UXP can support more chips, but their software is charged. The free one only supports Windows XP system.

48UXP if you arent dealing with modern big flash chips,
T56 if you are - but the T56 cant handle all the microcontrollers and PLD's the 48UXP supports.

in short - there is no real "universal" programmer unfortunatly.

some  does require very expensive adapters   elnec and some others,  some are pay per programming, xeltec latest programmer 7xxx series

there are somewhat universal ones   like tnm7000   cheap adapters pricings ...  no absolute

labtool 48 uxp, chipmaster 6000 uxp, minato  and many  odm ones,   "ELNEC is the main maker"  beyond v8.32,  is by 2 years licence

some say svod (need registration), galep  etc ...   some can do obscure devices, ecu programation etc ...

yes  no absolute programmer,  you need to know  what you'll need or program BEFORE purchasing one or many ...

would want to know if I understood correctly as I'm thinking towards Xeltek 7500N. Do you say it is paid per programming?

T48 or T56 It's also quite good,with a relatively high cost-performance ratio.

Xeltek adapters are very expensive.

TL76  replace  both t48 t56

there is no ultimate programmer, it depends on what you may or will program, some algorythm are protected

Xeltek  have protected sockets,  but some magic happened

Labtool  are somewhat free,  unpaid version up to 8.32,  higher is a 2 year liscence, some magic happened

Elnec  have protected sockets

BP Microsystems  have protected sockets,  have huge support fees on some model

tnm5000 tnm7000  are mostly universals, cheap socket can freely fit

Galep      some galep 4  lpt based is old,  galep 5 is usb based,   but they can do some mcu some others dont  ...

System General is old

HI-Lo   is old

many  like Labtool, Dataman, Spectrum, BK Precision, ELnec      some models are clones of each others under many names for the old generations and newest generations

And  other mentioned here  have  ended support, meaning  no SW upgrades, you need to get the latest models and $

Xeltek 7500   not sure  but they seems to direct to pay systems or not,  depend on some parts,   some magic exist, still get reecent updates
Elnec Beeprog 2 and 3  are still supported,   but have token system too on some parts
Labtool 48uxp  is still updated  sw 14.20

Xegcu models are still supported on some models,  do not get confused by many names,  the classic tl866a or cs  have been cloned / cracked, but support ended,   some new names exists
Xegcu and others seems to focus on memory, big memory chips  for cell phones ...

in the end always check supported device lists

Tried many times to find these from reliable sources but always bumped to blind end... or enormous prices asked.

check the tnm7000 at their web site,  price have dropped a lot

https://tnmelectronics.com/product/tnm7000-universal/

350$ usd  i think ...

the show a new case design for future models,   but once again check the supported device list  ...

the practical thing with it and some programmers   they offer  jtag, isp and other possible connections on another socket,  like some Xegcu models ...

Elnec and Xeltek are the ones so far who offer the most extended list of devices ...   sure some memory types / eeproms ...  do share multiple brands

Tempting offer... but I was advised to be careful buying a device whose country of origin is not friendly, to say it soft  :palm:  and the current situation only makes it worse; wondering how customs would take it  :-\
