There is no driver for the SATA controller, so you should get a blue screen when the system restarts after the first TUI setup prompt.
I remember it was an error saying something like “Boot device not found.”

I'm pretty sure it worked if I set it to IDE-compatible mode. If that doesn't work, you'll need to load the SATA driver right at the start of the CD boot, but I doubt there's even a driver for XP.

I looked into 0x00000A5, and it seems to be caused by ACPI. Could it be that the driver is missing? Did it can disable the ACPI and installing it?

Sata is the smallest part of the problem, driver can be easily loaded during install. The real problem is dropped EHCI USB support in Ryzen (you're already screwed even before starting install, unless there is a PS/2 port and DVD drive). On some motherboards it's simpler to get working than than on others. IIRC ASUS motherboards are among the most problematic. There are utilities, (for example from asrock) that intergrade USB xHCI the driver into win xp installer. Did you enable CSM and other legacy support stuff (if available) in the bios settings?

why not running it in a VM ?   if it is well configured, it can access all host devices / peripherals

Xp can not recognise  GPT partitions, Vista could  but  only as storage, and as stated  xp does not support  nvme drives

windows 7  would be the minimal

why do you specifically need xp ?

EDIT : check this ?

I am in a similar boat. I have several XPs / Win7 dual/multi boot PCs and laptops, all with spare MBs etc. Full images of all of them. Luckily, never had a failure.
I have developed many dozens of emulators / dev tools / UPC / MPC / programmers, many machine code level, even modified some kernels, 10s of $1,000s worth.
Happy to retire them once I croak :-) .. Keep ONE win11 laptop for rare cases, rarely need it, there's usually always a way around :-)
Hello <tap> <tap> .. is this thing on?

Roughly for the same price like asus, you can get a new tested XP computer with warranty:

You're going to need to find some vintage laptop for this.
I recommend searching for some older Dell Latitude E6400 series, we have a few of those for these exact issues.

and you had some tricks with some VM, you could block clocks / date  etc ...  to prolong  some softwares indefinitely ...

As others already said: your best bet is to either run in a vm, or get a machine with hardware of the time. For your particular purpose, an older machine is probably the better solution, because you don't have to mess with hardware passthrough to the vm, in that case.
It's never too late for a happy childhood!

+1 to it probably being an IDE vs AHCI issue.  See if your BIOS has a setting for IDE emulation mode.  Alternatively there are ways of adding the drivers to the install disc, but I don't remember them.

What hardware does the software talk to?  If it's USB then you can "passthrough" whole USB ports to a VM that runs WinXP 32bit, which might be easier for you as you can then use any laptop running any modern Windows or Linux.
