        Offtopic:

I went to have a look at the mouser website, very nice and best of all they ship to South Africa, albeit expensively.

As luck would have it another website pointed out this: http://za.mouser.com/stm8sdiscovery/ which seems like a bargain at $8.

Now if only I had the $60 to ship it SA.

Have you tried RS or Farnell? RS is normally a bit more expensive but the shipping is cheap or free. If you have a big order then it sometimes pays to go via Farnell, just remember to add the import duties.

Farnell could be trouble ordering from if you’re not ordering via a company, at least here in Sweden they generally require that you have a company registration nr, unfortunately… =/ Mouser is good though, at least when ordering somewhat larger amount of components to reduce the percentage that actually goes into shipping, im not sure about the details when ordering from digikey but maybe they could be worth looking at? And then theres ebay, never forget ebay =)

Hi Dave, I think it would be fun to watch and interact. Looking forward to it! :)

        Have a nice day

I would love to watch a live chat but sadly 7-9 am Sydney time is 2-4 pm AZ, USA time and I will be at work. :(

But it would also be 1 day earlier in the USA so if you do the chats on Monday mornings Sydney time that would still be Sunday afternoon in AZ, USA.

I vote YES for live chats but only on Monday mornings 7-9am Sydney time. :)

I would love to see that happen! I am also from the US so I would see it on Sunday!

        Hey Dave,

If you do decide to do a live blog episode on occasion, I would suggest you find a way to record it and post it on your site. That way people in different parts of the world(different time zones) who can’t watch live, can still at least watch the recording later.

        Just a thought,
        keith

I second this. I hate when sparkfun does a live internet thing and then they don’t record it… Its like throwing a hour of knowledge down the toilet.

Live Show? Great idea! The time is ok for me:)

      • Robert

I’m all for a live show as well. It’d be around midnight here in Sweden but that’s fine by me since I’m usually up anyway (not that I should be considering how I pay for it in the mornings but hey, old habits die hard).

        It rains in Australia?

Hi, live show is a great idea. If you know adafruit.com, they do something simillar. It’s called “ask an engineer” and they broadcast it every saturday at 22:00 New York time. They also have every broadcast stored so you can watch it later. Chcek it out for some inspiration 😉

PS: eevblog is great, good job 😉

        I think it’s a great idea. Let’s give it a try!

        RE – Live Show

        Dave,

A Live chat room capability would be great. Live responses to us EEVBlog fan boys would be awesome.

The 7-9 in the morning Sydney works great for us in the Eastern US – Just after dinner time.

I would also suggest a Monday or Tuesday as we all want to look forward to something on those days!

Well what you call design – BOM cost analysis is really part of a business plan for a product or service.

Why build something in volume if it doesn’t make business sense?

PCB Design tools slot? As a hobbyist keen to break out of the diy etching of trivial circuits at home slot, what are the tools and how best to get enough background knowledge to get files to submit to a PCB maker? I mean can you tell us how one can with free or at least cheap software get the basics right to submit a pcb that’s pretty much going to be accepted, and not arrive in the post with missing through-plating or other mistakes on my part?

          @Conrad
I’d love to, but sorry, no I can’t due to a conflict of interest in this area with my work.
          Dave.
