Looks great! I noticed the sharp color difference in the grass at one point. What made that happen? BTW, you did not discuss the station construction before.
I would love to see a photo of the full layout to get an idea on how you plan the rest of it.

I have used 'WWScenics Static Grass' in various shades and lengths.  The shades I used are spring, summer, autumn, winter and dead in 2mm and 4mm lengths.  I have an order in for 6mm.  Some places I applied two layers to add height and others just one where I mixed different shades together.  The bright green around the engine house was 2mm spring.  It does seem to stick out now that you mention it.  It might get a second layer.  All practice before doing the farm.  I use full strength Mod Podge to glue the grass.  If the glue is too thin, the grass won't stand up.  The second layer though is very thin Mod Podge (4:1) put on with a spray bottle.

   


I purchased a box full of various sized trees from 'evemodel' that I intend to use to cover the two hills.  I still need to source material for bushes and hedgerows.

Here are two photos of the entire layout as it stands today.  My plans for the two hills are the sore spot for me.  I haven't been able to workout yet what I want to do.  The artistic part is hard for me.  I'm too mechanical and precise minded.

Looks like you are modeling in N scale. When the hills get covered, it will look nice. In that 1st photo, do you have space to extend the tracks towards the bottom mid area?

No it's HO scale.  The layout is 10ft x 7ft.

The track in the middle area is filled.  The track radius of both inner spurs is
at the minium HO radius of 18in.  The only expansion is the hidden mountain spur
making the layout U-shaped.  Or add more spurs expanding the hidden area (that
would be toward the bottom in the last two photos).  But, the layout pretty much
fills the room already with 24in walkways around the sides.
