My names Mike, been an electronics hobbyist and working as a systems analyst and then health physicist for the best part of 15 years. Always ended up visiting here when researching optics and thermal vision, so decided to take the plunge. I'm also a radio amateur and enjoy collecting military radios, especially Warsaw Pact stuff and do Cold War displays at various military shows across the country.

Greetings and thank you to all the posters for a truly fantastic forum. 

Since age six I've tangled with electricity to one degree or another and now manage access control and physical security systems for....well can't really say.  Throughout all these years my education has been hands on....trying not to let the magic smoke escape while at the same time directing that smoke to do my bidding. 

Setting up my home electronics lab for real.  Finally finding the time as I get older to play with my long time passion for electronics.  Here is hoping I may be able to contribute to the forum and give back for the great information I've already gleaned.

Hi, My name is John. I am from NY, USA. I am new to this forums, recently found out about EEVblog and been binge watching all the videos. I feel like I learn/absorb more info from Dave rather than in class.
My major is EE and I love electronics. Hopefully one day i can work on computer/motherboards, that is my dream.
I already asked this community for some help with beginner equipment and the responses I got was over whelming. This is clearly a great community and I am proud to be a part of it.

Hi, I'm Tom, Electronics engineer since 20+ years.

When I was a student, I ran a small pro audio business, designing custom P.A. systems mainly based on Fane Studio loudspeakers, and renting audio and lighting stuff for local events.
My very first task as junior engineer was debugging ASIC prototypes with embedded microntrollers (PIC clones), directly on a HP83k harware tester, emulating ROM. Shortly after that, I got the chance to jump into an European-funded research project, developing the very first GSM handset with integrated GPS receiver - intended to be used as emergency phone for people with age or health issues.

Then, I tried to get rich founding a Dot com company - on location-based services. Our lawyers were the only ones, who got rich, so we quit that adventure in time before we got ruined.
Later, just before Fukushima nuclear disaster, I was contracted by a small manufacturer of radiation meters. We improved the product design (more than 20 years continuous operation with one internal Li battery) and were just rearranging the manufacturing process a little bit, when these power plants in Japan failed. Boy, the geiger counters were sold out within days and the prices for GM tubes tripled. For a couple of years, their radiation meter production had to be split to several subcontractors, to cover the demand.
Meanwhile, my work is mostly releated to microelectronics research at a research institute.

Hi, My name is Eric.

Been working in the electronics industry for over 20 years. I do mostly medical and industrial control applications. I love doing both the electronic design and the firmware for control, but if I had to pick one it would be embedded software.

Have been looking for my next spectrum analyzer and have been reading up on the Rigol and Siglent. Now that I have sold my Agilent SA, I have to make a decision and have hit the point of needing to get involved in the community.

Hi, I'm Gavin. I am a computer scientist by education, but I end up spending a lot of time learning electronics as a hobby. I've basically become a bit of a vintage scope collector, and have recently managed one of my first real oscilloscope repairs.

I'd like to learn enough to start doing some basic analog circuit design, and would like to play around with some DIY EMG/EKG/EEG projects. But then again I have more projects than I know what to do with.

For my job I do remote software development contracting.

I'm also an extra class amateur radio operator, and involved in my local hackerspace.

I've always had a interest to learn about electricity and electronics, but didn't discover how much of a passion I had for it until a few years ago. So, I came back to college after a few decades of finish carpentry and I'm now an electrical engineering student about halfway through my second year.

I stumbled onto the EEVBlog YouTube channel a while back and have been a fan ever since. Thought I'd finally join the forum to ask a few silly questions and haggle on some lab stuff.

Hi, I’m beau and I love tinkering with electronics. I got into game console repair a couple of years ago and I can’t get enough. The process of getting a good deal on a “broken” console, the therapy of getting it clean and diagnosing and the thrill of plugging it in and it works is a wonderful process. I recently am into modding systems as well.
I’ve stalked this forum forever, but never registered because I rarely have anything to add. My questions are answered with a search and others questions are answered by people with more prowess than I. Here I am anyway!

My name is John. I am from Ontario, Canada but in Bangkok, Thailand for a couple months opening a factory. I am more of a mechanical type being a machinist. But have always had a interest in electronics. Played around as a kid with both a 60-70's vintage hobby set that my father had bought himself to try and teach himself some electronics as a adult and a 80's set I bought myself. Still remember my dad telling me when he bought his kit the store clerk saying that he had a lot of guys buying them for there "nephew"  Have not done anything in a couple decades then started watching AVE a little over a year ago, that led to BigClive and a renewed interest. Was hoping to spend this winter with the old sets and a bunch of DIY soldering kits from ebay but this posting to Thailand came up. YouTube has been my TV here. I was aware of Dave and EEVblog from AVE and BigClive but had never watched till a couple weeks ago. Really enjoying it and love the old electronics teardowns. It's a trip down memory lane as I have or have used a number of the items.

I'm Clark. I am a retired electrical engineer. I live in Topeka, KS. Today is the first time I checked this forum. I am happy to see there is a wealth of information here. I'm selling a Fluke 92B ScopeMeter and once it is sold I'm going to buy a bench top scope. I hope this forum can educate me on good scopes.

Before I retired, I designed and installed industrial control systems. I've worked in several industries - oil and gas, wood products (lumber and plywood manufacturing), concrete plants, water treatment, sewage treatment...to name a few. I even had a fun gig developing a telephone switch for prepaid cellular. For most of my career I did a lot of software development, mostly on SCADA systems. My last job was developing a data acquisition devise to acquire data from down hole sensors in oil wells. The device acquired the data, encrypted it, and transmitted it to central servers. It also allowed remote reconfiguration of the device and the downhole sensors.

Now that I am retired, I'm doing more embedded software development. I absolutely love the ESP32 micro controller made by Espressif. Right now I'm working on drivers for servo, stepper, and DC motor control using this chip. I'm also trying to figure out what project I should build when I get those drivers working.

I'm also contemplating getting a 3D printer. The new Prusa i3 Mk 3 has my attention!

I'm also a long time viewer of the YouTube channel.

I'm looking forward to getting involved in this forum.

First of all let me introduce myself (I'm writing this fantastic forum first) I'm Tomas I'm from Prague and since I left Mom's belly I'm interested in electro when I was older I added the mechanics (6 years - the first functional telegraph and repaired alarm) I later added work with wood, motorbikes and cars. After school, I worked in a laboratory for the operational research and development of an international telephone exchange, now as a service technician in the field of industrial gastronomy and servicing our production hall for processing of stainless steel (CNC, hydraulic and mechanical forming machines)

I would like to thank the founder of this amazing forum, I discovered it sometime ago, and since then it's not a day for me to say no, or to watch a video on Youtube. I found a lot of good advice and interesting ideas. I just bought a BM235 DDM, a few breadboards and components and a few small cheap kit to practice soldering.
