Reminds me of Boomer - he caught his first bird the other day even though we do everything possible to stop him. Even on the leash he flew up and grabbed it right out of the air only a few feet from me.

Best of luck trying to beat Mother Nature.

Our Tani (gone a year now) was very fond of a warm sparrow however cock sparrows were much her preference over hens. In her 17 years she must have accounted for a hundred or 2 that I witnessed.

A cat I had some years ago caught the other end of that.  He was sitting on the covered porch while I was in the garden and wouldn't come out.  I kept encouraging him and eventually he started walking across the yard.  A mocking bird swooped down and pecked him on the head (or tried to).  The cat made a 180 degree turn in the air and headed back to the porch.  I didn't realize that was why he was reluctant to come out.

For sure, he is only outside on the harness/leash and we stop him quite often before it gets to stuff he shouldn't. Most days he gets 2-4 hours of supervised play outside. We go on walks, to parks, pet stores etc. When we come in from outside we then usually play with his toys in the house as he wants to catch stuff and feels better after he does(and gets in some crazy running, jumping and attacking).

Over here we have lots of magpies (birds) who tend to team up against a cat when the cat ventures too close to a nest. Nothing else for the cat to do other than seeking shelter.

Say hello to Harley a 6 week old grey tiger. Sorry for the blurry pix. Harley won't stay still long enough to get a good picture. I was not allowed pets at my old place but now that my new lab is set up it's time for a lab cat. He's very friendly and loves people. And very curious.

Please tell me you moved just so you could have a cat.

That was not a major factor in moving but was definitely a side benefit.  :-+

At sunset I collect my cats, they have their wetfood and stay at home till the morning. They have their places and collecting is a fun job. Since last month Billy was not at his usual place and did not react to calling. After an hour or so he would show up. He also stayed away for a night. I experienced this once before with a cat of mine and in the end he disappeared completely. He was chipped.

This looked like the vanishing point again. What to do?

I chose a Samsung smarttag. GPS trackers are on the big side and battery life is short.

So, I could follow the cat if every now and then a Samsung user passes by. So I checked my phone and found out Billy was near the exit and entry of an exit of the motorway 350 meters away. He had to cross that. Shocking at least. Tried a couple days of house arrest, but the hard headed animals that they are, that place was the first he'd go to.

That's life, at least I saw him coming home today on the mobile in time for dinner.

Edit: sorry for the rotated picture, forum rotates it to landscape. Fixed.

I used to let Fonsi stay outside till ~10pm or so, but lately I wont let him out after 8-9pm.
He was usualy back home at ~10pm but sometimes way late, like midnight or even 3am! That was too much for wife. :)
