Indeed. Serviceability is a thing of the past.

I feel I've been in something like this loop with my leaky tap.

you either replace the tap, replace the valve, or replace the worn out parts in the valve ... I chose to replace valve

the fun part is sizing the valve - I'm hopeful I've picked correctly, from a long list of potentially incorrect options.

I'm not really sure what you meant. Is there something wrong with image (the packaging)?

I assume it is rather a pet peeve that you are put in a position where you have to gamble on the purchase and you can't be assured the item will fit. In that case I agree with you completely.

I'm not really sure what you meant.

think about the image of the adjustable spanners all set to different lengths and consider the comment about "serviceability" - that was what my post responded to. I could've put it in "my pet peeve" or "what did you purchase today" but I felt it was following on neatly from where the post was at, albeit not rigidly on topic - I'll take a moderation on that :palm:

I wonder what the calibration period is.

You never ask this question, because as soon as you do you realize someone will or already has turned them all slightly off. >:D

Why not? It seems to be an educational magazine, not "hard core" research science. And "Breaking Bad" certainly did a lot to raise popular interest in chemistry...

Let us not mention the RV flat battery scene, lest it drive me into apoplectic rage at the utter inaccuracy of it on almost every level.

An all time favourite for me is that one.
It's so bad that I can only think about the artist intentionally wanting to piss people off.

It's perhaps 10 years old and literally could be found everywhere.
I mean... it ended up being printed big, like 2 meters across, on a wall at work  :palm:
No one cares noticed despite being in an electronics company.

Unless you’re a bit OCD, what’s wrong with it? Nothing. To the average person it signifies the excitement and speed of the digital age; it’s called marketing. This wasn’t designed to be an engineering blueprint 🤦‍♂️🤣

Do not give your 3 year old kids furnace motors to play, they may choke with that 9x9 inch thing weighting only 5 pounds. Think of the children, would'ya.

They are only trying to protect future engineers and technicians who would disassemble this into choking size parts while still in the put everything in the mouth stage.  At least by the time I learned to put things back together I had figured out that taste wasn't too useful for understanding how things worked.

But sometime between 3 years old and 4 years old kids realize that furnace motors are dangerous. Scientists are still trying to understand this phenomenon.

It's a subtle fail which none of you could ever understand.

See, the caption of the book says: "general and inorganic chemistry" :P

You're going to have to help us here. Where is the fail in "Inorganic Chemistry"?

I'm not familiar with that movie, but it was supposedly about meth synthesis.

So the fail is that you associate the phrase "inorganic chemistry" (which is a real and completely normal thing) with a little known film about Meth?

Ok, I didn't study enough chemistry to know that, but I'd still question whether that's a fail? Just because they mention inorganic chemistry, but show a scene from a series about meth? That's Sheldon Cooper territory! The word "general" is there too and meth production could be considered "general chemistry".

That's like claiming a fail for a circuit diagram on a cover showing a partially biased transistor but the word digital is mentioned in the title!

Wait until your kids have grown into mutant teenagers....

This, the small print user manual for an Aldi branded set of digital calipers and who should be safegaurded from them. Basically no-one except a fully qualified grown up with zero psychiatric certifications should be using them. Maybe not even then?

OMG WTF I'm so frightened of anything that contains a numeric scale :scared:

Btw, on the subject of dodgy tech, these calipers are cheaply made but for the money, remarkably accurate!
