I'm watching EEVblog for serval years. So I thought it was time to look at the forum. I used to be electronics hobbiest, and then I turn to computers.
Gradually, however, I go back to the beginning and so I started again with Arduino and recently also ESP and home automation.

I am from the Czech Republic and currently I work as an IT specialist. At one time I also programmed a PLC, which was quite fun, especially finding the right sequences for running a complicated machine.

I think I'd send my dumpster find, but the postage seems pretty expensive to me.


What do you think? Send it?

Ok, I hope this ends up in the right place this time.

When I was young I used to build heath kits with my dad and then went to just buying parts and building all sort of things from radios to transceivers. Well along came the PC and I got hooked on the internet where I mostly played around. Not being a gamer I went into editing Photos and until recently just edited for fun. Now at 63 it's my job and I work from home since I'm in Florida and my boss is in California.

In my spare time I've become a Mr. fixit for the community working on simple thing like Pc's, phones, solar lights the usual household items. I've setup a work bench and purchased my first Oscilloscope. My main reason for joining is to learn as much as I've forgotten. Here's hoping you can teach an old dog new tricks

I am a little bit late in the introduction post because as always I don't look everywhere in time 

More then 10 years I am working in big industrial factories. Mostly big power stuff but electronics are big part of my work too. I love electronics, love to build, love to repair, test my own designs, fail, then test again to achieve my goals.. Analog electronics is my thing. It is like poetry - it rimes "every idiot can count do 1", right ? I rarely work on audio/video electronics.

Electronics have been my favorite hobby since i was a kid. Years ago I became an electronic Engineer and although this is not my actually profession, never lost my interest.

Hi Y'all.

Like many here, I found the YouTube channel first, I really love David's presentation style.

In the military, I was a truck mechanic.  When I got out of the military, I went to an electronics trade school.  After completing the basic electronics course, I got hired by Xerox as a Xerox 9700 Service Technician.  The 9700 was a Dec PDP1134 driven 120 page a minute laser printer that you could find in many of the data centers around the USA and I suppose the world.

By the mid 90's I had moved into Sales, I sold the Xerox DocuTech.  I have been selling software for the past 15 years and love what I do.

I still keep my hands in all things technical and want to get into troubleshooting/repairing electronic things that fail around my house.  I live in a Newmar Motorhome and there is always something that needs to be fixed.  I have an Electrical Management System PCB with a bunch of relays on it.  The board works fine but the relays need to be replaced.  I also have an NVidia Shield Pro that will not turn on.  Working on electronic and mechanical stuff brings me back to my earlier days and I am still pretty good at it.

I recently purchased a used ScienScope SSZ-2 Trinocular.  Now I am looking for a soldering station, a multimeter, a power supply and possibly a digital scope.  I'm leaning towards a Pace ADS200 soldering station and a Fluke 87V multimeter.  I need to do more research on the power supply and scope. 

I'm glad I found you all.... I have a lot to learn and believe I can learn it here.

my name is Alex. Watching Dave videos on yotube for last 3 years. Learned a lot.
I do some back-end server side software engineering by day and having fun with embedded development by night.
Through last three years it got to some "sophisticated" DIY levels. Like etching PCBs using photoresist exposed by a 3D printer which was converted to laser engraver:

Im Casey but most friends call me Bean. I am your usual maker geek. I have been cosplaying for a few years now and got into electronics about a year and a half ago. I have been a fan of channels like dave's and Clive's for a long time and those channels are what really got me to take to leap into the electronics field. I just started college for a bachelors in electronic engineering technology. I still have a lot to learn I am still following schematics and tutorials to make things like the TV-B-Gone or lights for my costumes but between my classes and the wealth of knowledge here I hope to be able to start designing my own circuits and projects before too long. ^u^

I'm relatively new here..
I'm a software guy who has always had a foot in hardware. I'm starting a new company centered around a consumer hardware product so I'm getting in deep for the first time with 6+ layer boards, multiple FPGAs and some high speed signalling. It is a learning curve..

But I have one pressing questions I could use some help with..
Is there an easy way to keep track of conversations you are a part of? Right now, if I don't recall the category I'm posting in.. I forget to go back and see if anyone had anything new to say... I must be missing something since this seems really important.

Hello from Belgium in Europe!

I've been watching the youtube channel and been lurking on the forum somewhat. My day job is in IT but I'm bumbling along in electronics for recreational and home automation.
Up to this point in life I've shocked myself on 230V AC by accident four times, this qualifies me for something right?

I raise money for the British Vintage Wireless and TV Museum (Dulwich, South London. Another charity) and the BECG. As such, I may want to flog odd (very odd!) stuff here from time to time. I've got a pile of NOS vintage bipolar PROMs to sort out at the moment.

Some of you may recognise my "ppppenguin" name from other forums. Some may even have had the misfortune of meeting me in person:) I'll see if I can get my animated penguin avatar to work here.

Hello everyone

My name is Martin (pl.: Marcin / latin: Martius).
I'm a software engineering contractor for living.
From times when i was 10, programming was my hobby, my passion, my love!
Started with Atari 65XE and Basic, then Amiga and my first try to learn assembly on DemoScene, finally PC and for few years ASM as the only language i known , today on everyday day it's C/C++ with some Java when i need to prototype some idea till i write it in C/C++

So.. what I'm doing on this forum?
I found that I do not have hobby anymore , as my hobby is my work for past 18 years ... as New Year Resolution decided to go into EE as my new hobby (before that tried snow board - yay after 40... it's not easy to have both feet strangled to piece of wood and dont get your boom hurt, so tried sailing... it's fun, but hard to do it at home at bad weather ).

What I want to learn? Before i get my hands on EE-Lego called Raspberry or Arduino, want to get an in depth understating of analog part. Do not want to be just an user of some prefabricated shields.

I just registered today after a good while visiting the forum.

I have a decent electronics setup at home and at work, but my home setup is better than at work 

I recently got hold of a BK pvs10005 nice and cheap BUT BROKEN, it was an easy fix, it is a very interesting PSU.
at the moment I am hunting for a nice bench multimeter maybe dmm6500 or 34465a and I have spent a while reading up on them here

Hello everyone, Feel free to call me John.
Electronics has always been interesting to me so I have decided to take the plunge and start learning it. Also trying to do it on as small a budget as I can by reusing materials that I have saved from the trash.

For now I am collecting what I can and setting up my little desktop lab.
    My power supply for 12 and 5v is from a salvaged computer PSU.
    Because of where I am getting my parts from I have ordered one of those component testers from Amazon.
    The multi-meter is a harbor freight special (Yes, I do plan to upgrade.)
    The soldering iron melts solder. (Not sure what more I can expect from it)
    Will be getting an oscilloscope when the opportunity comes up (looking into one of those pocket oscilloscope from Amazon)
   
Open to any advice seeing as how I'm really just making this all up as I go along and trying not to cook myself in the process.

Played with electronics when I was a kid.  Spent four years in the USMC at the organizational level repairing radars in F4-j's back in the 70's. 
I've done a bit of relay logic back before PLC's.  Learned enough about PLC's to replace a bunch of forming press controls after a 1/2 day training session on the AB SLC500.

I currently work as a maintenance tech in a manufacturing facility that has robotics, cnc's, and plc based motion systems.  I'm pretty fair at general maintenance machining and troubleshooting automation.  Implemented some work cells using fanuc robots back when you programmed them in Karel.    Wrote programs in Clipper for the accounting and  manufacturing side back in the day.  I've had the chance to play with tech because I was the only one around at the time that understood it in the past.

I like photography, astronomy, and all things firearm related.

I ordered a Siglent SDS1104X-E yesterday.  Didn't care for the 5% price jump between yesterday morning and last night. 

I'm planning on getting a bit more into electronics than I have in the past.  Something to do to keep my mind active when I retire.

Hi! I'm James, a long-time lurker and recent Patreon supporter - I'm mostly posting so that I don't get purged with other zero-post accounts.

I've taken apart electronics since I was a kid, failed at learning from an EE educational kit in middle school, and revisited the topic throughout my studies and career in IT. My background is data security and computer science and I'm currently a full-time "homeschool hacker dad" which has given me a lot more time to learn all of the EE topics I missed out on.

My most recent re-introduction to electronics came through the #badgelife community at Defcon and I've been respinning old badges, deciphering schematics, building BOM's, etc. My "Badgedolier" project was featured on Hackaday https://hackaday.com/2019/08/17/nfc-business-cards-to-fpga-cubes-skull-badges-to-bandoliers-heres-the-hardware-from-breakfast-at-def-con/
