Contract Job - EEVblog: Making Shorts/Reels

I'm looking for someone to make Shorts/Reels from my existing content to go on Youtube, Instagram and Facebook.
YES, I know Shorts suck, but fact is there is a market for them.
For the last month I have taken all my old Youtube Shorts and reuploaded them on Instagram and Facebook, and the engagement has been very good. So I want to keep this going but I'm now out of shorts.
So I need someone who is skilled at creating engaging shorts from existing 16:9 content.
Of course there are countless people/companies who can do this, but none of them have any clue what my content is about. So I figure I'd prefer to try someone who knows my technical content and potentially what my type of content my audience would find appealing.

[I totally feel where you're coming from. Making those dope short vids requires some serious tech savvy and a whole lot of creativity, especially when you're working with existing content. Props to you for flipping those old vids and getting some solid engagement. If you need a hand, I'm totally down to help out. I think these are okay, especially if they can do a lot of them fast and cheap. I think it's difficult to make shorts from educational content.
How about making shorts from "wow" moments, disappointment moments, giggling moments. E.g. from oscilloscope and other electronics tear-down videos. I remember in some videos you was very surprised by some strange engineering decision on enclosures, PCBs, etc. Some laughable moments with medical device internals installed with lots of adhesive tape or something, don't remember exactly.
2-3 seconds of your reaction, 2-3 seconds then zoom-in on pcbs/something, repeat or continue this pattern.. make it loopable. I think I can do this, but I am only started last year, so my video editing experience may be not enough. Here are two examples of my shorts:

As you can see, no popping text captions, etc.. Too basic. But I would hire me or.. ask a short company to find these "ha-ha", "wow", "eh" moments in your videos, combine with zoom-in on actual PCBs, enclosures, schematics. Avoid explanations and theory.

You could fill a channel entirely with shorts of Dave doing "Australia-isms" and have that get clicks without any EE content at all.

Wave that big knife around saying, throw in a couple "Bob's your uncle"s and "half a bees dick"s, and watch the clicks roll in!

Or hire a hot chick to dance next to the whiteboard while you explain what a JFET is.....

I hate those shorts, but these demos are pretty much the epitome of what shorts are supposed to be like. 99% of shorts are like this, with the animated subtitles and loud voice (and often music.)

Shorts are primarily targeted at a young audience, binge-watching them on their mobile phones and with the attention span of a goldfish.

YT creators are pressured into making those, and creators offering no shorts will see YT "algorithms" lower the exposition of their other, conventional videos. Which is why most Youtubers feel compelled to make them.

I'd be curious how "engagement" is being defined/measured here... does people flailing around on their screen trying to figure out how to work the damn thing when the video conrol ui is gone get counted?

Likely the result of agressive pushing by the algorithm, not result of views by regular subscribers.
They can count me as negative 1 in the views total, as I consider shorts junk.

I suppose there are users who would never click to watch Dave talk about electronics for 15 minutes, but may click 15 seconds of highly concentrated clickbait.

Question is if for established channels this will translate into new regular viewers of existing content or permanent "shortification" of the channel

If we jump from 15 minutes to 15 seconds videos, that is 60 times less.  At 30FPS, 15s means 450 frames.
If this trend continues, next jump will be to show only 7...8 snapshot pics instead of a 15 minutes video.

I just took a look at the R&S stuff and somehow managed to not quite view the short I was actually looking to run and instead got a stream of completely unrelated stuff like skateboards and, er, 'things'. I gave up, but no doubt all the shorts I passed through on the way would score a view from me. I think the greater 'engagement' may well just be viewers who are scrolling random shit and figure it would take them more than 15 secs to get their arse in gear to skip shorts they're not interested in. BTDT.

The thing is you have to specifically design and shoot the video to be a 1min Short. Editing existing long form content rarely works.

The thing is you have to specifically design and shoot the video to be a 1min Short. Editing existing long form content rarely works.

You should make shorts where you "react" to watching your own long videos.

If this trend continues, next jump will be to show only 7...8 snapshot pics instead of a 15 minutes video. 

The format is already pretty much optimal for what it is, which IME is distraction for people bored out of their mind in some public place - sitting on a train, waiting for their medical appointment, etc. They pull out a phone, scroll through an endless stream of videos and watch whatever catches their attention.

It has to be clickbaity if you want anyone to start watching it, it has to be entertaining if you want anyone to watch more than the first second. It can't require more effort than making a watch/no-watch decision or it will be a no-watch for you. No clicking and browsing pictures, no putting on headphones, captions preferred over audio, etc.

Yes, it's understandable. But do they have the demographics for the audience they get through shorts? I'm curious.

A few content suggestions:

Traps for young players.

Designs for common problems.  For example a power button circuit.

Product reviews.  Products you use.  Mailbag stuff.  Trashing the scammers.

The most interesting example to me, using a transistor (or two?) as a clamping zener.
I have taken note personally, to give it more attention,
but it's a ridiculous short! The captions make it worse.

Who cares anyway? Don't they produce zero income? Or the idea is simply to draw ppl in to the real videos?

The VFD one would capture attention if interested, to get a quick explanation, but the video needed to be shot portrait.

The "Jelly Bean Component" short. I can't see the appeal for anyone at all.
In the context of the original video, maybe, but as a short, nope.

2 out of 4 aint bad.. sort of.. at least as ideas.

I don't want it as a job, but was happy with my one short on my now 15 year old channel If you forgive the audio.
