Thank you very much, war brings nothing but suffering and destruction. During the time that we have been at war, I have assembled several soldering stations, assembled on different topologies, and given them to my friends. I started using your firmware starting with version 1.10.* and now I see that it has been polished almost to a mirror shine, and I think that its development in the implementation of additional functions (optional), for example, I would add another function to control the speed of the cooling fan, I think that this would be relevant for stations operating in the C245 mode - I have it implemented using a separate controller and a thermistor. It would be nice to have such a control option using the main controller. But this, as I think, is relevant for stations assembled with your own hands, and not factory solutions. Thanks again for your support!

Does anyone know which of the units without PSU are STM32 based?
Or which T12 stm32 is cheapest?
I was going to buy a Quicko T12-942 to modify for battery power as it’s cheap without PSU however I stumbled across this thread and would like to stick with STM32 if possible.

Request to the boss ( David ) for new functionalities in the firmware:

1. Automatic identification of the soldering tip (handle) .  When turning on automatic
identification uses the temperature of the mcu for correction of the cold junction with the possibility of manual correction of +20 to -20 degrees. .   Pin PA7 is used for automatic identification, from 0 to 10k = profile t12, from 40 to 50k = profile c245 and from 90 to 100k c210 , >100k handle not connected.

2. Using the stm32 controller for desoldering:
Upon activation, a control selection between pump and valve follows. At pump select , pin PB6 (controls pump or compressor) copy the state of the tilt sensor which in the case is used as a trigger for the desoldering gun. When choosing valve, pin PB7 (controls the valve) copies the state of the tilt sensor, a
pin PB6 starts the pump and keeps it running from 0-5 min.

This will allow the use of Hakko's FM-2024 handle or something cheaper like the Handskit T12A Suction Tin Gun Handle Desoldering Station:

I have been Looking around for a vac-desolder and pros kit SS-331H Looks reasonable and indeed this guy used an Arduino setup to run this vac de-solder handle.  This SS-311 handle is a lot cheaper than the whole station and all parts are easily available as spares.





Also noted, the Pros kit station does have some clear design deficiencies: runs from 19VDC swmode power (from any mains input).  But the PSU is capable of being tweaked to output 24VDC (It uses a tl431 reference voltage) and the iron heater is actually 24V DC rated.  The stations Internal Fan is poor; they use high wattage resistors to drop the 19V DC to 12V and 5V power needed (for pump, fan and 5V for Arduino).  I mean that’s plain cheap and odd.  That’s why the Arduino version has more potential.  Though the code is a little basic.  It’s not rich with features but could be modified.  I mean the gent who did this ….an excellent idea!   He did a good job.

Of course to DIY with Arduino, you need power and pump etc req’d but you can buy the handle for around $35-$45!   This makes it an extremely attractive DIY vac de-solder station option.

But issues I saw was the SS-311H!   The handle uses a PTC for temperature measurement and ceramic heater meaning it’s slower to heat.  There are other vac-desolder handles with built in pump or different temp sensing.  But there is not a great range of these nor are they as easily adapted DIY style.   The manufacturer of the SS-311 vacuum de-solder handles, sells a complete range of spares, meaning it’s a long term proposition.   But there are some and they use differing temp sensors from thermocouple to NTC!

I too was wondering if the T12 systems could be made to run the SS-331H handle?   Obviously the PTC temp  feedback needs Circuit mods to make it workable but I guess it could be done.   Why the SS-311H?   It appears one of the best handles and is cheap with all parts available as spares.  Easy to buy small cheap 12v vac pumps (even if they are crude and a bit loud).

So yeah, getting a T12 controller to run one of these SS-311H handles is a good idea IMHO.  Its feature rich code would be great in running a SS-331 handle, sleep, wake etc.     It’s a pity there are no T12 type vacuum cartridges!   Now that would be too easy!

As for cartridge type sensing?  I thought these used a bar code to read the cartridge?  Is that right?  I could be wrong.

Lastly a foot switch is more ideal for some vac desolder handles but the pros kit SS-331 handle has a switch.

There are other manufacturers from China that have a heating element with a thermocouple and a nichrome heater, but they are also quite inert.

It’s just the Hakko FM2024 handle is so expensive locally here.   Yes I know the SS-331 uses a PTC thermal sensor and it’s “laggy” .   I’m looking at much cheaper options!   Only because of the costs.  I was reading the Handskit T12A a had problems with clogging.  Though it’s no a bad idea. 

Yes I agree the FM2024 handle is a much better unit.

I won't work without modifying the analog front end.
The T12 stations are designed to take just few millivolts from the heater thermcouple, so a PTC won't work.

Still, it maybe doable by replacing the amplifier with a pull-up resistor, the Arduino schematics show a 220R pullup to VDD.

Hakko FM-2024 + N-tips and Handskit T12A tips are T12 soldering tips.  JBC DT530, which is a C245 soldering tip, can also be used.  JBC DT530 manual

But you really want a huge thermal mass, so 80w can behave like 250w for a small time, enough to melt and pump the solder out of heavy pins.

Metcal MX-DS1 is the best, followed by Hakko FM2024-02 + N tips and maybe JBC DT530 .

I've tried the Metcal MX-DS1, I have and work with the Hakko FM 2024 and I know what I'm talking about. Low thermal mass and quick recovery to operating temperature.  Does anyone on the forum have a JBC DT-530 to tell how it behaves with a JBC station.

Hi guys, could you help me? I bought c245 and c210 handles from Sugon I want to attach them to my ksger t12 with cfw by David Alfa. Yesterday I burned out 2 tips and 7 transistors on my board 😂 Can you paint on my board (I guess it's 2.1) where I should connect that handles. I cutted trace around R11 but photo was taken before cutting. Thx a lot

BTW can ksger support c115? I saw station like gvm/ sugon they support c115, c210 and c245. Can ksger too?

There is support for t12, c245 and c210, read the whole topic carefully.
Circuit breake is only necessary when using C245, as the thermocouple and heater can be connected with separate wires.
Show the wiring of a handle with which you fire the FET.

The information David has about the C115 is wrong. The researches of
Axel Johansson and my thermocouple measurements of C115 show a different polarity of the thermocouple signal.
