I came across this fact reading the thread about hacking the 800/900 and I was really irritated. I am not aware how many rules you "violated" creating the new UI (not judging it, nothing against your activities!). I followed the development and I like and appreciate your work. But it is a difference between a skilled coder doing that and a company, simply transferring your work into their commercial products without even contacting you. This is not the way to go.

I have mixed feelings, but premium the satisfaction that the design must be right to have been chosen to be used in a limited edition, I prefer to stay with that. Now I can say, that my DHO804 has a GUI similar to the limited edition ^-^

Despite of this being a Rigol with a small, glossy screen, weird looks and the stupid bling stuff and knowing that bugs will never be fixed, this is still a somewhat tempting offer.
At Batronix, the MHO98 costs ~1308€ while the MHO934 without any upgrades costs ~975€. I.e. only the memory upgrade for 260€ brings them in the same price range.
But then, there's also the MHO900-BND update included which costs ~796€ and the LA probes which cost ~356€.
Given that there is even a bag included and you can run in from USB-C, it's actually quite portable.
I'd still prefer the Micsig MHO14 with it's larger screen, higher resolution and much more professional looks, but this is certainly a nice bundle for the price.
if just the screen was a bit larger and the thing wouldn't look like a toy designed by color blind maniacs (and no, I don't even mean the bling stuff), I might give it a shot.

Ok - you can feel honourd by the fact, Rigol liked it, but it is not the way to go.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander. There's no moral high ground between Rigol 'borrowing' a community/end user idea, and an end user reverse engineering, modifying and redistributing Rigol's software.

Besides, isn't this the very spirit of good 'open source' etiquette? One modifies one's fork but contributes any valuable changes upstream to the original author/maintainer?

It is sad enough that customers have to help themselves in this way. ;)
What's more, some of these improvers also charge for their services, so they can count themselves lucky that Rigol isn't interested.

I might give it a shot.

It doesn't even have to be MHO98.
It looks like Rigol has fixed a few bugs and expanded some features with this series. If they now turn their attention to the Bode plot, among other things, this series will be a “hit" for the money.

It's just that options like the function generator are so expensive that the MHO98 is actually the cheapest option if you want one or two options.

Hello,

the price/performance ratio is extremely low. It's tempting to give in. However, I will remain strong.
I couldn't find the maximum sampling rate for the digital channels. And I couldn't find the influence of the digital channels on the memory either.

Best regards

From my crude tests, the minimum pulse width ever shown on the screen is 1ns, corresponding to a 1Gsps sampling rate. The sampling rate of analog channels and the memory depth are unaffected by the logic analyzer.

So - Number 2XX is here. As it is a Special Edition - lets make a little unboxing thing - no video, just three pictures.

The outer box is somewhat - gosh, what is inside there - We all know the size of these Sony Headphones and the known size of the scope itself. So there must be something additional - the Rigol bag. Nice.

But to my big surprise - I read the text in the contents description carefully, but did not clearly see it included - there is a PLA2216 included. This really makes it a perfect addition to my little, humble workbench. I had the Logic Probe in focus to get it separately, thus - welcome. Everything complete.

...ok until I discover something new to be added...  ^-^

All in all -yes to everything particularly at that price.

It is not THAT bling-bling, Rigol kept a certain technical aspect with the black/yellow color combination.

...into the first tests now.

It seems to us that if Rigol is using some of your created IP then they should at least acknowledge such, and if they are using a lot of your IP they should a least acknowledged and provide you with the product involved!!

If they don't, then this doesn't speak highly of Rigol in general!!

We have the DHO814 altho we hardly ever use it as we have 3 Siglent DSOs and prefer them (long story why we have the Rigol).

Anyway, we aren't involved in any type coding but do appreciate your efforts in creating an improved UI and you should at least be acknowledge for your contributions by Rigol :-+

Same here. But it's really tempting and that dumb "limited edition" trick is really working for me. Not because of the bling crap but because this is really a very good offer and missing it feels like losing money ;)

I couldn't find the maximum sampling rate for the digital channels. And I couldn't find the influence of the digital channels on the memory either.
Interestingly enough, Rigol seems to have never specified the memory of sampling rate of the digital channels. Didn't find this in any datasheet I checked while in Siglent's datasheets, you'll find the information immediately...

I would not have bought it at the initial price, but with the offer from Batronix, the additions, (there is working WiFi - imagine...) it is a perfect offer. Bandwith - the four probes - the PLA2216. Rigol also has been working on the heat dissipation. No plastic on the front anymore. As warm as it gets in idle, this seems to be a progress. No real progress regarding the fan though. Quite present...
But fortunately, they misplaced the warranty-sticker a bit "off housing", make it very easy to remove it safely. My screwdriver is waiting...

@Martin72: ask everything, but take into consideration, that there are far more skilled people in this thread, than me. But I will do my best.  ;)

And again: It is not bling-bling. I would rather call it "less plastic"

Oh - yes: it took me about 10 minutes to change the language from chinese to english, looking for "Setup - language" 设置. Finally found the entry with a graphical globe.  :palm:

Just watched a video about the logic analyzer in the DHO924S. It seems there the sample rate decreases if you enable the logic channels.
I guess this means that the logic analyzer uses resources (bandwidth, probably also memory) that are normally used by analog channels.
This might explain why there is no explicit sampling rate or memory defined for the logic channels.

Does it have WiFi built in? Can you set the time zone?

What's the firmware version number?

I will be able to answer tomorrow, it already arrived in Brussels and expect it in the afternoon.

If it is shipped with UPS, do you also see a clearance warning on the UPS tracking page?

Interfering - interested in your experience, Turing.

What are Timezones? There is only Shenzen or Shanghai - everywhere in the Universe as well as on our Rigols...  8)

WiFi is there - an USB Dongle is included. It also sees the Networks, if you disconnect and connect it, while the Scope is running. The connection with two networks 2.4 and 5 GHz failed for now, as it was "connecting" forever.
Wired network is running.

No, but it's said to come with a WLAN/Bluetooth USB stick that blocks the only USB connector though.

Looking at pictures of the backside, the fan of the MHO900/MHO98 looks quite a bit bigger compared to that of the DHO914. Is the fan noise really not improved?

It has much more power consumption. And case size and shape sometimes defines acoustics much more than fan itself.

Is that so? According to the data sheets, both the DHO900 and MHO98 have the same power supply specification.

The cases of the DHO900 and MHO98 look more or less identical.

There is a Rigol Dongle for the front connector. Not working here until now. It sees networks, if you connect ot after powering on the the Scope. It asks for a password. Then it starts connecing...
If you enter an erroneous password, it reports "wrong password". Yet there is no way to enter the correct password.

This WiFi is in a pre-Alpha state. They heard rumors about that cable-less magical internet connection trough the air, but did not manage to get it working yet.

The cheap TP-Link WiFi-Dongle WN725N is not recognized at all. No Dongle at all is recognized at the USB-B socket with an adapter.

Power Consumption: Running idle it draws 60 Watts.

Set the maximum sample rate and memory on the scope, then activate the LA.
Which memory/sample rate is then displayed?
Please provide a screenshot.
Thank you. ;)

4GS of ADC , FPGA to handle the 3x data volume.. There must be power increase.
And yes the cases are the same so they will sound pretty much same ..
