Actually I’m waiting until at some point the forum breaks because of this thread.

Thread is too small a word for it - more like a hawser!

Does that nomenclature carve BD139 out as a version of Lieutenant Gruber from 'allo 'allo, but with his "little tug boat" instead of a tank?  >:D
Anybody got a syringe I can use to squeeze the magic smoke back into this?

Effing X-Mas morning E-Waste. Kick everyone involved in the junk so hard their asshole becomes a necklace.   :palm:

This is exactly my thoughts on half of this crap but it is NOTHING compared to childrens toys these days. I mean this fucking shit: https://www.argos.co.uk/product/9306341

Only one German word comes to my mind when I see something like that:
Sondermüll.                                                                               (special/ hazardous waste)
Right from the beginning.   :palm:  :palm:  :palm:

Sondermüll - presumably leaning on the umlaut to give it that vomitory stress.

Religion is always potentially dodgy in a way that politics isn't.

Men and women of good will can discuss politics and at the end of the day it comes down to one's belief in what will and what won't work, it is in some fashion capable of being empirical, even if the systems it's applied to are too complex to easily prove that about. If you can prove that a particular way to achieve some generally accepted worthwhile political goal actually works - say eradicate poverty - then sane people will say "let's do that then" even if it is against a core tenet of their political philosophy.

On the other hand with religion there is always a risk that someone believes that you are genuinely bad if you don't agree to the same beliefs that they hold, that they are bad if they don't try and correct your disbelief, that god has told them so and that he/she/it will punish you for your disbelief and them for any lack of zeal. From there it kind of goes downhill with at one end you constantly being bombarded with pamphlets and at the other with roasting unbelievers over an open fire.

So, a little bit of politics, ish, sometimes, maybe. Religion, I prefer to pick and choose very carefully who I discuss religion with and where. I'm happy with anybody holding any religious beliefs they want as long as they return the favour and let everybody else hold whatever religious beliefs they want, including none of course. Because of the risk of the 'true believer' type outlined above it's safer to have an absolute bar on discussion of religion in some places.

We are right now having a calm, level-headed discussion of religion and politics. I rest my case.

Bunch of cunts. After going at it at a glacial pace for two years things now absolutely have to get done right now, while I have something else to do which actually needs to absolutely get done the coming weeks. I can't even tell them to eat a dick as that'd only prolong the suffering, primarily mine. I really must have irked the spaghetti monster. FML. I guess I'll just set my mood to "gravely annoyed" until Christmas.

We’d just start our own forum and have a religion topic  :-DD Actually I’m waiting until at some point the forum breaks because of this thread.

Are you certain it hasn't already...? I have little doubt the wandering singularity which has been plaguing the forum attachments database was spawned from the sheer mass of this thread.

The warding spells cast by our poor part-time admins are at best a Band-Aid solution; I expect it is only a matter of time before all is lost to inevitable entropy. ;)

Good, keep it rested. If you're familiar with George Carlin then you know my stand on religion. I'd rather not have people pissed off at me.  ::)

Edit, let's not go there. As it is I can barely stand the smell of the politics that sometimes floats around here.

On a positive note, did some shopping. Waitrose is still well stocked, there is no queue and people are being civilised around here.

The prices and locations tend to keep the riff-raff out (exception: rich riff-raff), and a lower proportion of snouts dangling out the mask.

Maybe I should start wearing my swimming trunks like that, and see if anybody complains.
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

I looked at that. Words fail me. I can't be adequately apoplectic in words about quite how big a worthless heap of crap that it, even if I invoke Cthulhu, the FSM, and all the Hindu pantheon, together on a pogo stick, having an orgy.

(edit) Oh. hold on, I've think I've got it. In the words of that great actor and philosopher Tom Cruise: "vagina poop".
What are you thinking, you, you left out the ceremonial cutlery   :palm:

my fat ass is still half frozen.

got to our polling place at 0650.  about 125 people were ahead of us in line.  the doors opened at 0700 but we did not get inside until 0900.

it was cold and windy.  there were still about 100 popsicle people serpentined around the parking lot when we pulled away.

am thinking a democratic republic is not worth the trouble.  a dictatorship would save me a lot of time standing in lines.
Must have been busy rigging the ballot papers, you might just get your preferred dictatorship when that's all finished.

I'd for myself would prefer if we could leave this topic out. It is much too delicate and it can turn anytime in a flamewar. And seeing TEA locked would make me really sad.

just my 0.57$

Compensation adjustments on the Type 310A. Set up with the Heath IG-4244 Scope Calibrator. The adjustments fell right into place quickly and with minimal interactions between ranges unlike some scopes where the adjustments are real fiddly. Sample result on screen. Nice square corner.

So......Sweep timing was dead nuts.
Trigger just needed a tweak.
Calibrator output dead nuts.
Vertical gain: This is where the pot twist monkey spend all his time. Now calibrated.
Compensation done. This project is now complete.

And just for fun. 1MHz square wave. For a scope with 4MHz bandwidth that is not too shabby.  :-+

I've only a short while ago come back from a shopping trip to Lidl in Maldon this time, (don't ask) and was very pleasantly surprised, everything apart the fresh bakery was very well stocked and the more popular items that are the first to be hit by the panic buyers were being restricted in quantity each customer could take. It seems that the German shops are much better managed to ensure fairness to one and all.  :-+

Well, we shall see. It's on the torture rack for many hours of burn-in. And it has already demonstrated some reliability after the HV fix and has over 8 hours on it. But this little guy does run HOT.  :o So once the fan base is restored it will go up on it.
