This is an English forum, if you're not wiling to post in English please find a community that is in your preferred language.

Hi there, I'm a newcomer with a degree in microelectronic technology and about 20 years of background in manufacturing on different types of equipment. Currently in NZ. Excuse me in advance for my terrible spelling which is even worse while in native.

Hello All

I'm a recently retired technician, forty plus years in the business, working in Medical Diagnostics, Telcom and 25 yrs as a T&M Engineering tech, which encouraged my e-obsession. I have collected a wide assortment of gear, components, and accessories. I also have a DIY audio habit as well.

After reading seemingly endless V-REF threads, I felt the need to join up and contribute in some way. Current major project is building discrete Zener V-Refs as a way to learn the nuances of tweaking for stability (inspired by the Conrad Hoffman thread). I'll work my way up from there using primarily using on-hand inventory.

Every browse here provides opportunities to discover & learn, glad to be a small part of it.

Hi everyone,

I'm Mike. Mostly lurking, I signed up a few years ago and noticed about a month ago that my account was purged. I guess this is a regular maintenance practice for low activity accounts that don't post. Anyway, now I am signed up again. Hopefully this post keeps me above upcoming account purge thresholds. Even without posting, it was valuable to be able to set some interesting threads to "watch".

Anyway, I am a Electronics Engineering Technologist but for most of my career, I have been more involved with computers, clusters and Linux. Current hobby interests are retrocomputing, FPGAs (mainly Altera), microcontrollers.

- Mike

Hi everybody,

I'm a Electrical Engineer working mostly on PV installations and electrical projects.
I've found this community by mere chance, surfing the internet, and a post pointed up here. Exploring I saw the quality and effort Dave puts in it's videos and it's incredible work!

I was quite the gamer type, but I decided to drop the ball when titles didn't meet my expectations anymore and there's a generalized downward spiral right now, especially when politics became the norm in video games, not to mention how expensive it has become.

Hi all,

New member here. I work primarily in electronics repair and diagnostics, mostly board-level troubleshooting and general test/measurement work. Background is hands-on rather than academic, with a lot of time spent fault-finding real hardware, power supplies, interfaces, and mixed-signal systems.

I’ve been gradually upgrading my bench and trying to be more deliberate about measurement accuracy and workflow, which is what led me here. I’ve followed EEVblog content for years and finally decided to participate rather than just lurk.

Looking forward to learning from the discussions and contributing where I can.

Hi from Shenzhen, China! I've been an IC trader here for over 15 years. To be honest, I'm not an engineer and my technical knowledge is very basic, which is why I’ve joined this forum. With the market being so crazy and full of fakes lately, I realized I need to learn more from an engineer's perspective to make sure I’m doing the right thing for my clients. Happy to be here and learn from you all

Hi everyone,

I’m in my mid 40s and have recently begun learning the fundamentals of electrical engineering. My background is a diploma in computer programming for commercial applications. I’m studying on my own and will have questions along the way — I’d appreciate any guidance or advice you can offer.

Thanks in advance.

hi there everyone

been browsing the forum once in a rare awhile on more or less an as-need basis for a few years but now finally realize I actually want to build some particular set of circuits soon so I decided I may as well as finally sign up here, especially as I'll like some shopping tips or humble circuit criticisms etc after all

(as for the username I came up with, well, all I can say is - what do you get when you have sparking electronics and a silly long-eared-ears creature playing around with these? hehehe!)

I'm Dquan, an EEA grad with two years out of school, mostly doing hardware tinkering and small product development now.
Right now my small team and I are prototyping a true cordless soldering iron. The biggest headache we're hitting is ESD leakage from the tip, especially since it's fully isolated from mains ground.  :-BROKE
Came here hoping to find folks who understand ESD in battery-powered/handheld tools (or have dealt with similar in cordless irons like TS100/Pinecil mods, field gear, etc.). Any practical tips, circuit tricks, or real-world mitigations you've used/tested would be super helpful. Just genuinely stuck and want to learn from people who know this stuff cold. ;)

I'm an electrical engineer who didn't do a lot of electrical engineering in his career.  I wrote software for my first three years (1970-73 mainly in machine code) then moved gradually into project management.  Now I am trying to catch up.  I wish I has paid more asttention to all those Maxwells equations and other theory at university.  After retirement I built a house, and then started designing and making gadgets for the house.  The first was to build a Z-wave system and program it from a Raspberery Pi, so as to compensate for solar gain with respect to the underfloor heating.. This expanded to include controls for the ventilation system (off when near freezing, on fast overnight on hot summer days etc), controls for the window blinds, other bits and pieces, all written in Python.  I also designed and built a box to monitor the current to both our sewage treatment plant blower and the UV filter on the incoming borehole water, using an ESP32 and Micropython.  And a Raspberry Pi Zero box which is connected to the heating system and reports zone heating.  And other things as well.  I bought an oscilloscope, function generator and now a DE-5000 LCR meter and am venturing into the RF realm.  So that's me, as far as technical stuff is concerned.

Hey everyone! I'm a hardware engineer who's been a long time eevblog youtube channel watcher, first time poster! Spent my career working on motor inverter and battery management system PCBs for robotics.

Currently working on some tools to try and improve component selection.
