I'd played around a bit on earlier hardware with automated building/testing of some open source packages on risc-v hardware... but limited RAM, slow CPU, and slow overall cycle times kept it pretty limited and not very practical. Hoping to try that out again, though, at least. The much larger memory and hardware virtualization support might make some meaningful differences for that, even though CPUs still lag well behind other architectures.

I'd look at it a bit differently — the missing 5 GHz isn't really a gap, because this thing was never meant for Wi-Fi  in the first place. The CC1352P7 is a narrowband transceiver for BLE, IEEE 802.15.4 (Zigbee/Thread) and proprietary sub-GHz modes. It shares the 2.4 GHz band with Wi-Fi, but it can't demodulate 802.11 at all — a BLE radio just hears   Wi-Fi as noise. So it's not doing Wi-Fi on 2.4 GHz either, which means there's nothing on 5 GHz it would be "missing." Different job entirely.   

Z-Wave is a nicer case: that one's there in hardware, just not in firmware. Z-Wave is basically ITU-T G.9959 — GFSK in the sub-GHz band (868.42 MHz here in the EU), and the CC1352's sub-GHz radio can do exactly that kind of FSK PHY.   So it's a software problem, not a silicon one — you could generate the RF settings in SmartRF Studio and work out the  G.9959 framing (there's prior art like waving-z to lean on). Not a weekend of typing, but definitely doable.     

For what I actually want it for, it covers my needs nicely — and honestly the "what could I make it do next" angle is  half the fun. Plenty of interesting weekend projects hiding in that little board. 🙂                                                                                                                                                         

BTW. the included Antenna is a 868/915 MHz Antenna (measured with a LiteVNA).

Digikey send me a collection of SMD components in a box larger than a shoe box.  I was intrigued to see how they managed to fill the box.

On the top was an A4 sized tray in antistatic evelope 4 TSOP32 SRAMS.  4.  The whole f'ing tray with strapping.

10" screen for composite video output from SA. The built in screen is small but also very slow to warm up, takes at least 10 mins to get it readable. This sits on top and with the addition of some sticky labels to match the soft keys seems to work ok. Not the best photo, sorry. This screen was cheap (£20) and not new but does the job. Now I'm fixing the other MTB I have. This is the time AI failed me. The spare parts didn't fit, and it's completely not clear how I was supposed to know about that. I bought 00.0000.200.618 spare pulleys, which lists X7 as a compatible derailleur (which I have), but it didn't fit. Damn you, sram(

So, I bought a set of pulleys from aliexpress just for fun. I think I have a new hobby - repair my small bicycle fleet. I have three bikes: old mtb, new mtb and a racing bike. No time to ride as I keep repairing them).

So, attaching the picture of current state of my older MTB. The deeper I disassemble it, the more stuff to repair I find. I guess, some bikes are better not to be touched.

Those are pre 2009 X7, most modern ones use the newer style with cartridge bearing in the middle. Best bet is to take the part off before replacing it to measure/visually check.
Aliexpress ones are fine, I would avoid aluminum (loud) or ceramic bearing (not sealed properly).

...just ordered another, hopefully better (and genuine JYE Tech) DSO138 oscilloscope kit - my previous one (from Treedix -Amazon) was flaky / not operable. Having a working unit, might help diagnose the other's issues.

Apparently the cartons for those panels are about 120 * 85 cm, so if you assume that's approximately the size of the panel you can do a quick sanity check of the claimed wattage:

Rated wattage = surface area (m^2) * standard irradiance (W/m^2) * efficiency (approx 20% for most solar panels)

1.2m * 0.85m * 1000W/m^2 * 0.2 = 204W
