Bob,

I think you want 1DS, not IDS so I generated 1DS for you. If I'm wrong let me know.

Hello PA0PBZ,

I managed to put my hands on a Agilent PSA E4445A.
Much better than the E4407B to do phase noise measurements.

Would you be able to generate a license key for personality 215 (external source control), 219 (noise figure) and 241 (flex digital demod)?
The serial is MY46181289
The host ID is D4279BF8

Thanks,

Xavier

Good day PA0PBZ,

Not sure you are interested in helping someone out who just registered today for this forum as you of course don't know me and owe me nothing, but I was looking to have some keys generated for an E4407B. Our CPU died and had to be replaced, that's done but I need options 219 and 226 added back.

Any chance you'd hook a stranger up? If so, I'll send whatever info you need. Let me know - THANKS!

-Carl

Hello all,

Has anyone tried to activate AYZ on a PSA E44405A?
The required hardware is available in the E4445A.
I would just need to get the LO out and the IF in. No biggies...

Will the firmware accept the AYZ license codes while Agilent stated that it is for 26.5 GHz and above models?

PA0PBZ, could you generate the license key for AYZ?
The serial is MY46181289
The host ID is D4279BF8

I am curious to try.

Best regards,

Xavier

Thanks PA0PBZ,

I read conflicting info about AYZ support on the E4445A and E4443A.
One of them was that the A13 board was not fully populated on these models and IF IN may not be switched properly.
However, there is no indication in the Agilent service manuals that there is a different reference of the A13 board for these machines.
I doubt that Agilent would have two different A13 assemblies with the same part number.
That's why I deleted my post.

I have entered the license key and it was accepted.
The IN/OUT menu now gives me access to the external mixing options.
That does not mean yet that it works...
I have to open the analyzer to connect a mixer on the LO OUT and IF IN (this is where the problem could be).
That will take me a bit more time to do that.

I'll keep the forum posted about my findings.

Best regards,

Xavier

I just got a question from Greg, user VoidLoopGreg, but since he has zero posts on the forum I can't answer him in a PM. Looks like the forum has the rules mixed up again: zeroposters are not supposed to be able to send PM's but answering them should not be a problem.

So I hope Greg is reading this thread: Please post your question here and I will happily see what I can do. Hint: I need the HOSTID of the instruments to be able to create a license key.

Assuming it is an ESA this should work:

229 530A0D030E0B

Thanks for reaching out to my friend. VoidLoopGreg got banned - apparently merely mentioning a non-free educational product is sufficient. Good thing I didn't post more about all of the free stuff... :)

Anyway, this is my academic account and should work.

Would be extremely grateful for help with the options!
Thanks,
Greg

Sorry - just went down to the lab and got them.

E4407B
S/N SG44210552
HID 25C3C313

E7705E (in case this could work with the EMC analyzer)
S/N MY45116056
HID 7D83BAF3

Many thanks!

I have no idea what that even is ;) Does it have any options installed so I can try to reproduce the key?

Greg, option 226 for the instruments:

E4407B: 5F68C1CFC095

E7705E: D90D792A84F1

No idea if the last one will work!

The second one is an EMC analyzer with these options (EsA hardware):

1DR - narrow resolution BW
1DS - RF preamp
060 - low emission
1D6 - Time-gated SA
UKB - low-frequency extension
B72 - expansion memory
A4H - GPIB and parallal
AYX - fast sweep and ports
AYQ - detectors and FM Demod
1DN - 3.0GHz TG, 50Ω
1D5 - High-stability frequency reference

It looks like some options require/are additional hardware like 1D5 or A4H. Did you check if the instrument has any active options so I can have a look at the key?

I'm super sorry. Typo. It is an E7405A. The info is here:

https://www.keysight.com/us/en/assets/9018-19220/technical-specifications/9018-19220.pdf

Again, sorry. It is at a site I have to drive to, so I was unable (this week) to power it up and look.

Thanks,
Greg
