Hi Atlan  :) Today, I noticed an issue with my two 1013D oscilloscopes running firmware v0.26q8. When I use the "Move Slow" button, the entire scope freezes and becomes unresponsive until I power it off and on again  :palm:

Have you encountered this problem before ?

Yes, it should reset the program but it doesn't work.

Hi Atlan,  :) Yes, the "Move Slow" and "Move Fast" icons are working great! Thanks for the quick fix—really appreciate it.  :-+

Quick question: Does your 50% function work within the CH1/CH2 voltage area as shown in my picture? Mine doesn’t seem to do anything on my 1013D oscilloscope.  :-//

Hello there!  I've been stalking this forum for a bit. Might as well jump in and say hello.

I have also been meaning to help with programming.  I'm so thankful for the work done on these little scopes. Being good with C, thought i could help, but I've been very busy to do so.

Introductions aside, there's another thing that I can't figure if it's a bug or a feature.

When you set a signal as a reference, that signal stays put on the screen.  Ok, no problem.   You can change time base and voltage and it stays the same.... Except for the smallest 50mV/div!  the signal then grows to double in size.

Yes, *2 is from the principle that sensitivity 50 is just a multiplication of 100mV sensitivity. only the problems themselves are.

I made the 50% button work - it was removed when I solved the problem with if else in the button menu. I modified it so that now it also switches the trigger to the appropriate channel.

Hi Atlan  :) Wow, you must have been working tirelessly ( through the night) to achieve such speedy result! The 50% icon  :-/O within the CH1 & CH2 channel areas is working perfectly now. I just wanted to personally say a huge thank you for the new firmware update—I really appreciate it  :-+

Thank you guys for your work... For the firmware.. I ask for help, namely after installing the firmware fnirsi_1013d.bin v0.26q6. And calibration, the readings on constant voltage only go+ыt worse.. Am I doing something wrong? Thank you

dear atlan and pcprogrammer.

i decided to take the first steps of installing the alternate firmware.  i read the instructions and attached a pic of disk part and loader for you to confirm. memory card is the original one which was in the device. it has an offset of 4194304 bytes which according to instructions is ok. i am going to start 1013 firmware backup. i have selected the fnirsi_1013d_fwb.bin on loader but i don't know if i am doing it right. should i now just press write to device or should i do something else because it is for backup and not an actual firmware?

BTW, do you think two 9v batteries and a potentiometer are good enough for calibration steps or recommend something else? i have EVpeak balance charger that can act as a power supply and also can use Samsung 45w charger as a PSU but i am sure they have some noise. Samsung 45w adapter has an amount of 150 mv P to P noise at least.

Yes, first load the fwb bin. After turning it on, it will create 3 backup files. Be sure to have a backup of your touchscreen! It will save you a lot of work in case of problems. The backup program will create 3 files. Back them all up.

Keep the backup bin safe. The bin is loaded into the device, for example, the last one published here v0. 26q10. Delete the txt extension. A file with the bin ending will be created. Open it in the loader and write it. Turn the device off and on. A menu with a startup selection should appear. If you select the firmware oven, a blue screen will appear after startup informing you of the need for calibration. Either it is appropriate to use a battery for calibration, but due to the need for a small voltage of 300mV, use a battery with a lower voltage or stabilize the voltage from the battery with an LED, since the red one has 1.8V, it will be easier for you to set 300mV with a potentiometer.

First you need to perform a voltage calibration, and then set 3 parameters according to the displayed signal. There are 2 videos for this.

thanks a lot for very fast response bro. i did the backup and checked the 3 filenames in the instructions manual to be sure. they were all there and i am going to mail them to myself to be have no chance of losing them. now i am gonna try to find a good potentiometer and battery and see if i can take the range of voltages right. my current potention meter are i the rang of 250Ks and no good. i need bigger ones because the scope input is 1Mohm if i am right.

i already have and watched the videos but need to watch them again.

thanks for the tips on voltage and battery. :-+

BTW, should i measure with probes or not? i didn't really understand from the videos. i mean the probes should be connected when i calibrate right? is using spring for ground on probe better because i measure with the spring always or it doesn't matter?

Use the probes of the oscilloscope, the potentiometer is fine, so as not to put too much strain on the battery, or else the potentiometer will burn out. It is only about measuring DC voltage.

Has anyone tried copying the waveform in waveform mode? For example, to ch1 to ref1. Also the option to turn on and compare ref waveforms with the saved waveform.

When I have time I will write a program for saving ref1 to 4 on the SD card. That is, it will be possible to reload the ref history after switching off.

And I hope that what I mentioned in the first paragraph works.

Atlan,   I have not installed the firmware yet because I ordered potentiometers to be able to get the voltages needed. When I install it i will test the ref waves and report the results you asked about in the first paragraph. The option to load the history of ref waveform will be great and much appreciated for sure :-+

BTW, is there a way to get the calibration from original firmware backup and put it into alternate firmware to skip the calibration?

I don't know if the original firmware has calibration constants at all. They wouldn't be compatible anyway.

You can install the firmware without calibration, you'll have a menu with a choice of what to run. Calibration can be run again at any time. Yes, without calibration it will measure incorrectly and the trigger will not work correctly.

And I recommend reading the firmware manual. Link under the red text.
That brings me to a thought, someone mentioned that programmers don't write manuals. 1-it takes a lot of time. 2-users don't read it anyway :D

I actually read the manual my friend that's how I knew the offset and diskpart commands of which I sent pics here :). It is really a well written one. You are right though, most user don't read the manual. I know the device works but I need the device to work with my psu tests so I delayed the installation untill receiving the potentiometers.

Hi Atlan  :) NOTE ALL IMAGES Disappear ONCE TURNED OFF Regards Reference saved as SAVE WAVE - When using my 1013D oscilloscope, I capture a REF within Channel 1—let’s say REF1—and save it as a "Save Wave." The time and date work correctly, but the wave only moves horizontally when reviewing as save image , not vertically. Is this the expected behavior? (Note: If CH1 is turned on when looking a REF 1 save image Save wave , the cursors can be used to display voltage and time.)

Additionally, when capturing Channel 1 with REF1 and Channel 2 with REF1, then saving as a "Save Wave," movement is again restricted to horizontal only. Is this how it's intended to function?

If I capture CH1 REF1 and then overlay a live image, the live data appears over REF1 for comparison. Hopefully, this helps .. :-+

Are there any users who do not use the original FNIRSI firmware?
Is it possible to modify the FPGA firmware using RAMFIFO. The result would be a sample memory of 2x65535 samples compared to (2x3000 samples fnirsi-theoretically it would be possible to modify to 2x8000 samples, but there is a timing problem) The result would be incompatibility with fnirsi software.
A large sample memory would be obtained, allowing capture right from the beginning of the memory.

I have also designed an input amplifier with a sensitivity of 5mV, which would again cause incompatibility with fnirsi. But it would move the oscilloscope somewhere else. There is just no time for such things.

P. S. Theoretical possibility of generating square signals. On the 1khz test pin.
Atlan are you still going do things you had in mind in this post? That's gonna be another level of upgrade for this scope man
