If you do not have a fb account remember that anyone in this world can open up one in your name and get away with it. You will thereafter be unable to open that named account yourself.
Does it really work this way? There have to be at least two thousand "Hans Schneider" in Germany, would be kind of pointless if FB only allowed one of them to sign up
The problem here is worse than being a popularity contest. It is WIDE OPEN to manipulation. Anyone can create 100 fake FB accounts in a day which would be 300 votes/day from one person. For a prize of this value, I am concerned.
To get my votes, I have personally appealed to a lot of people explaining the contest and what it means to me. Their are many without FB accounts too, of course.
A little bummed that the content has no real impact since the voting method is so crazy. Curious if KS can see the FB pages of the voters.

I guess your competitor does the same.
True, it could be totally legitimate. Its just a bummer that it is setup that the process has no integrity and relies on the public to stay clean.
I found 4 posts that are promoting Nilu J that HAVE NO FB friends. They appear to be click farm pages.

We are in a 200 vote deficit! Please take a moment, if you can, to vote 3x today and daily until the 15th.
I want to give away my Tek TDS754C and Rigol 1102E pretty bad.....winning the Test To Impress will send these things packing - to someone. The tax requirement will a lot less daunting.
Thank you for all the votes - it is still rather close. Anyone's race.....
Carlos A. - 741
Nilu J - 923
This is an easy gap to close! What can I do to rally the EEVBlog'rs? I can make a dancing video, a cat video, streak a baseball game....I am not at all above begging.

Get Dave to put up a video about the contest. Maybe a general FYI saying that there are members trying to win it?
PM sent - suggesting a general voting announcement. Each individual can pick anyone they choose, as long as it's Carlos A., lol.
Seriously, it would be great to see a legit winner on the blog even if it is not my entry. LektroiD is a genuine entry and clearly quite smart. I am just baffled that an induction water heater is on top of the polls right now - NUTS! The contest clearly has nothing to do with engineering or the content of the videos.
Nilu J is pulling hard! About to clear 1000 votes.
There is some catching up to do for sure. Vd=232 (Vote delta)
This is out of spec and can create a hazardous condition. We need Carlos A parameter to be about 1000 more than the Nilu J parameter.
PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN
The water heater needs to be in hot water. Vote daily for Carlos A.
Nice video + story.
The voting requires a facebook profile, wich I don't have
Dear Everyone:
So........ create an email account you will never use , create a facebook account you will never use and go vote.
O at least don't tell everyone you can't vote because you don't have an account.....
I cannot put into words how nerd-tastic that graph is. Pure f'ing GOLD!
The parallel lines seem.... hmmmmm.

I just made a fake FB account and voted for you
Good luck !
dont forget you can vote 3 times each day !

Ahh,
I just voted 3 more times for Carlos and hope it helps to win.
I don't think that the water heater project really needs a 6000x scope.
It seems like they need mostly a differential probe.
But then, I thought water heaters have been optimized to the fullest already.
At least here in Germany. They are called "Durchlauferhitzer" here and I would not have thought that much more efficiency could be taken out of it.
Efficiency wise they are almost perfect, there isn't much to gain. Just additional failure paths and increased costs.
It's funny how Nilus lead consistently hoovers at around 200 (+/- 30) votes, just as if they were synced together
While I don't doubt the induction water heater idea has merit in some circumstances, I don't see it as being consistent with the 'efficiency' objective mentioned in Nilu's opening remarks.
Inductive heating, just like resistive heating, can only have a maximum of 100% heating. I thought the direction for modern domestic water heaters was of the 'heat pump' design and unless you're in a rather cold climate, you can get up to something like 2 to 3 times the heating for the same amount of input power. Also, if operated as an 'instantaneous' hot water supply, you will be subject to full tariff on all electricity used - or if you use storage tanks, then you have the very same issues with those shown during the intro.
I also agree that it would seem the main need for Nilu's project would be differential probes.
I don't wish Nilu J. or her team any ill and I do hope they get a scope to help them out - but the 6000X is overkill for them, IMHO.
Just put the link on my Facebook page suggesting everyone votes - hopefully a few will.
too, convenient.

I just made a fake FB account and voted for you
Good luck !
Thanks for the votes!
Creating a profile for the purpose of voting is not fake - you just don't use it. I just don't want anyone to vote more than the allowed 3 times per day. Keeping it clean and fair is important.
Keep voting daily if you can, I am promoting and campaigning like crazy on Facebook and in person to everyone I know. Starting to gain momentum in social media.
