I don't see this being useful in a shared lab or production environment.

No doubt, this is why you can deactivate the  :wtf: "AI"  :blah:  :-X voice recognition.
I am alone in the lab.... so no issue here.

In my little experience with hot air gun, there is no point to set a precise temp.
The main work is to  adjust the gun distance and heating time by the user hand.

It is always safer to start from a lower temp, this is why a need 1 or 2 iterations by bumping the temp up to get it right.
Don't get me wrong, the more experience you have the quicker you are as always.

Anyway if I could just say something instead to press a button (by look somewhere else and/or by interrupting the soldering job) I imagine it could be very practical.

I sure something is wrong with my code

What exactly? In which way? How do you know? Are there any visible signs of it being wrong?

Test Equipment / Re: SDS800X HD Bug Reports + Firmware

I cannot reproduce any problem.

I made a signal on AWG:
Pulse, repetition frequency: 45.45Khz (22µs period), pulse width 150-300ns modulated with random noise.
Scope 1ch, slope trigger, 20µs/div, 2GS/s
Measurement gate width: 31.4 us
I guess that is close enough.

I found no problem with scope.
Fact that at certain points you stop having results for certain measurements is because of the fact that to establish measurements of period you need to select time period where there is a full period inside.

At least they put dedicated CH1/CH2/CH3 presets on the front, those are actually useful to have. The TR1300A did not have those for some reason.

There are 4 CH presets! Big plus for me!

Many thanks.  Sorry not clear in my question.  Edited.

Thanks! That's interesting.
I'm still evaluating the blinking circuit, unluckily I've little time to dedicate to this project.

Beginners / Re: Lab PSU for learners

Another approach could be "go as you grow", i.e. starting with a basic lab PSU matching your current needs and  then getting a more sophisticated one when your requirements change. If you delve into electronics as a long term hobby, most likely you're going to have multiple PSUs anyway. For example, Korad offers some inexpensive basic lab PSUs.

Beginners / Re: Raspi button hacking

Unless there are long wires between the button and the Pi, optoisolation is pointless!

What's wrong with a simple resistor potential divider, say 20K upper, 12K lower to reduce the 8.5V to approx 3.2V to suit the Pi's input + Schottky dual series diode BAT54S or similar, clamping the GPIO to Pi 3.3V and Gnd?  During initial power up, before the Pi's 3.3V rail comes up, the clamp can dump 260uA into the 3.3V rail when the button is pressed, but since the Pi's 3.3V rail current consumption is over 50mA at idle, that's not a problem.

Metrology / Keysight 34450A Help
« Last post by Louis_C on Today at 01:08:55 pm »
Hello all. I'm looking for some help on a Keysight 34450A. All calibration tests pass except for 100mV AC @ 100kHz. It reads 94.837. The Low limit is 96.700 and the high is 103.3. I tried performing the internal calibration and entering the new corrected reading for this test point and the unit rejects it and fails. I flashed the firmware to the latest version available ( 01.03-01.02). I'm not sure what else to do here. Can anyone give me some advice as to what to look at next? Thanks!
