Test Equipment / Tektronix an/usm-488 Accessories needed. Please Help!
« Last post by thewookie on Today at 02:15:39 pm »
Good day all,

Apologies if this is not the right place for this question.  Any who, here goes.

I am in need of some assistance with people more knowledgeable than myself in electronics test equipment.

I am currently in a Tool control position of managing test equipment and tools for my job site.  I have this Oscilloscope Tektronix an/usm-488, and it currently has no probes or any other accessories for it.
My manager has asked me to locate some probes and and other accessories to replace the missing ones.  He said the ones that came with it should suffice.  However I have no idea what would have came with it, no part number to go by, therefore I don't know what to replace or even know where to begin.

I did go to the Tektronix website and searched for the model number and it appears to me this model is no longer supported any more.  Doing a Google search other accessories did come up for this unit, but since I don't know what it came with originally, I don't know what to get.

If anyone could help with some advice that would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Yes, I need the same measurements but with 700V overload. Yuu can overload by 8.6V at TP1.

May be if you press "Lo Range Enable" you will get 8.6 volt at TP1?

A small update.
So yesterday I received the 154 PRo and also two others I had ordered before asking here and was unable to cancel the order on time.
While testing for a more extreme clipping, I noticed that I am unable to show the top of the wave in 2 of them no matter what I tried. I maxed out the options (at least from what I can tell) and moved it as far down as possible but it just wont show all of it.
Only the LM2020 is able to let me show it very clearly. This was not my favorite device as I wanted it to be just an oscilloscope with more direct controls like the FNRSI or smaller and cheaper like the 154Pro but unless I am doing something wrong, it seems to be the only one showing me what I wanted not matter how extreme the case.
Am I missing something?

Here are some screenshots of all 3 devices. As you can see the LM2020 lets me get that close and detail if I wanted to and for some reason I cannot find an option to do anything remotely like this with the others. Maybe I am missing something?

Probably a little guilty here as we "thought" the two tones were for evaluating the DSOs linearity as with chassis classic IMD test. Rereading the post that started this discussion, now not sure that was the intent as it could be the separation of the 2 tones in the FFT display and how well the DSO could resolve such.

Sorry it wasn't clear but I was only curious about the scopes ability to resolve the two peaks.

We've found that scope linearity is often overlooked by folks, as they seem more intrigued with number of bits, BW and noise levels rather than linearity.

I had attempted to use my scope to measure AC line power by oversampling and decimation.  In this case I drove the channels with a precision DAC and ran a least squares.  Used the error to create a model for each channel.  Again, not the best tool for the job but may provide some idea how the measurement could possibly be improved.   First 7 minutes covered the setup.

Guessing the new scopes would do a much better job of making these measurements.

Test Equipment / Re: Power supply for home lab - do I really need a R&S?

Agree the SPD3303 are pretty good for the $ (which can be "enabled" for 1mv, 1ma resolution), we have 3 as well as GPP4323. Both types are good and don't exhibit any "surprises" at Turn ON/OFF.

The UI for the 3303 is a little quirky, but one gets used to it quickly, and the terminal spacing isn't standard, but for the $ a good value IMO. GPP4323 is more expensive but has 4 channels and also quite good.

Best,

What you shouldn't do is to update the FW version to 32xx if the scope came with 30xx or 31xx.
But the software, I didn't find ant issue.
Just don't apply any package that force-updates the FW.

Manufacturing & Assembly / What is going on with PCBWay 2024.05.06???
« Last post by mainr on Today at 01:54:43 pm »
Does anyone know what is going on with PCBWay?
It is now May 6th, 2024. When I open their web page, there is (still) a banner at the top of the page indicating they will be closed May 1 for holiday.
When I open the online chat, I get a message indicating the online-sales team is not currently available, then lists their hours as 0:00-24:00 Mon-Fri. (so they should be online & available).
Individually, I wouldn't be too concerned, but given the two minor issues together... ?

Beginners / raspberry pi spi0 and spi1 data transfer characteristics
« Last post by ieeeHuseyin on Today at 01:51:24 pm »
why is raspberry pi spi0 and spi1 data transfer different?

I have attached the pictures below. I used the same test code for spi1 and spi0. But in spi1 the data is sent sequentially(wait after every three byte), while in spi0 there is a little wait after each byte.

What is the reason?

"LO RANGE ENABLE" button always pops up,"2Mhz MAX" indicator light is off.

All buttons are pop-up,The 8920a host is in normal state for measurement, and does not display "700" or "mv, v fluctuations"

TP1:-0.024V(DC)、
R40:13.48V,14.41V(DC)、
R41:12.77V,-14.38V(DC)、
R42:13.50V,14.40V(DC)、
C24:0.685V,-0.676V(DC)

Do you need to measure the values of TP1, R40, R41, R42, and C24 at "700" or "mv, v fluctuations"?
