Can you post a photo that also includes the bottom of the screen? From that photo, I get the feeling that the icons are very high up, but there is a 3 or 5 pixel gap.

Added 0,0,480,800 border to the diagnostic menu.
I have the display inserted into the case a little crookedly.

The white rectangle is drawn to the maximum screen size. So now you just have to figure out why you can't see it above. Either the display in the cover or the image on the LCD is shifted.

Comparisons (screenshots and photos) The white frame is clipped just on the left side of mine but hard to capture since bezel is wide. There might be just 1 pixel barely showing through on the left so it's pretty sell centered just a hair too far left in my case

Hi Does anyone else’s 1013D oscilloscope show unstable Vpp readings when capturing the built-in 1kHz test signal using a regular scope lead with all measurements enabled. I’m noticing that the Vpp value jumps around slightly—it’s not very stable. The main values for Vp and Vmax seem fine, but the decimal points (like 0.1–0.2V, in the millivolt range) fluctuate quite a bit.

However, when I measure the 1kHz output from the 1013D using a different oscilloscope, the signal appears stable. Just wondering if this is normal behavior or an issue with my unit. Thanks again  :-+

Just a question to all you FNIRSI pundits.

I have a friend who has been bugging me for sometime about recommending a scope for him.  I think he should get a Siglent SDS804X HD, but he says he cannot justify that kind of money and that his absolute limit is $200US.  So, going with that I suggested to him that either the ZEEWEII DSO3D12 in the $100 range or the Hanmatek DOS1104 at the $200 end, would suit his needs.  I am familiar with both of those and I know they meet their respective specifications, but now he has come back to me asking what I think of the FNIRSI-1103D and I know nothing about it.  Can someone iterate why it would be a better choice than the two I have recommended?  I have read through a lot of this thread and have seen some complaints.  His needs are, hmm, not well defined.  He wants to get into electronics a bit more and will be mucking about with microcontrollers, vintage computers and audio.  Any help would be appreciated.

30Mhz oscilloscope with 100mV sensitivity and touch screen, no trigger input. As a second oscilloscope, fine, as the main one, not even. Look at the Hantek 2d10 (2d15) which also has a generator, or if you buy a 2c10 or 2c15 and if you are lucky enough to have generator parts, it can be activated by software. Most importantly, it has 3 inputs, which the 1013 or the 1104 do not have.

30Mhz osciloskop s 100mV citlivosťou a dotykovou obrazovkou, bez trigger vstupu. Ako druhy osciloskop fajn, ako hlavny ani nie. Pozri radsej Hantek 2d10 (2d15) ma aj generator, alebo ak by kupil 2c10 albo 2c15 a malnstastie o bude obsahovat suciastky generatora, ide softverovo aktivovat. Hlavne to ma 3 vstupy, co 1013 ani ta 1104 nema.

Thanks for the reply.

Sure, but the threads on the Hantek read like "The Inferno".  This guy is a newbie and I'm guessing he'd not be too interested in the long list of "to do's" associated with the Hantek.  Plus it seems to have a less than stellar hardware reliability with people replacing the power supply and encoders after just a couple of months/years.

I'd like to recommend something that works reliably "out of the box".  I guess the FNIRSI's are no that.

I had a rigol 1052E and after a few years the encoders also started to leak, all I had to do was clean them and they cost twice as much as the hantek. You'll be looking for cheap and good quality for a long time

Yeah, I know what you mean.  I just have difficulty in putting my word behind something I don't have experience with.  The FNIRSI seems to have less problems than the Hantek, but you have first hand experience with it and don't recommend it (FNIRSI).  That tells me a lot.  The ZEEWEII and the Hanmatek are pretty good and I know them, so I'll stick with those guns.  Thanks for your help.  I appreciate it.

The advantage of the 1013D is that it has touch controls and alternative firmware. The disadvantage is that the original firmware has errors, has low sensitivity and small sample memory. Missing 3-channel trigger input and no built-in generator.

I don't recommend it is a strong word. The oscilloscope has its uses, but it lacks some things that a proper oscilloscope should have. And you need to take that into consideration when choosing.

Are there any users who do not use the original FNIRSI firmware?
Is it possible to modify the FPGA firmware using RAMFIFO. The result would be a sample memory of 2x65535 samples compared to (2x3000 samples fnirsi-theoretically it would be possible to modify to 2x8000 samples, but there is a timing problem) The result would be incompatibility with fnirsi software.
A large sample memory would be obtained, allowing capture right from the beginning of the memory.

I have also designed an input amplifier with a sensitivity of 5mV, which would again cause incompatibility with fnirsi. But it would move the oscilloscope somewhere else. There is just no time for such things.

P. S. Theoretical possibility of generating square signals. On the 1khz test pin.

I don't, your firmware is soo much better there is no point in using the original anymore.

Sounds awesome, I'll go with that for sure!

Are you on any donation platforms?

Hi Atlan :) Regarding the 1013D oscilloscope, which I’ve had for years now—thanks to your help and the great support from the EEVblog forum, it’s seen some major improvements through essential firmware updates. One thing I’ve personally found useful is the boot menu. I still use it occasionally to compare the differences between the original 1013D firmware and the latest versions shared on the forum. Is there any way to keep the boot menu intact ?

I also really like the idea of the increased sample memory—that would be a fantastic upgrade for the 1013D. Adding a bit more sensitivity, 5mV per division, would also be a great enhancement. From your previous updates, I noticed you’re considering reference waveforms (at least two). I’d find that feature extremely helpful.

Have you ever considered implementing temporary waveform labeling or tagging per channel? Something simple, like allowing users to name channels temporarily (e.g., instead of just CH1 and CH2), with names resetting after a power cycle. I'm also curious to hear what others on the forum think about possibly removing the original FNIRSI firmware altogether. Thanks again for all your work on improving the 1013D!  :-+

I still use the original firmware, but I'm trying to change to the alternative one, I want the last one with the channel inversion, but I'm having difficulties downloading the file, it's in .txt and it doesn't read in the foz loader, the conversion to bin didn't change anything in the oscilloscope, can you help me please?

You don't need to convert anything, just delete everything after *. bin xxxxx.txt. To load it under Windows, use the loader 1.1.3 program. Ideally, read the instructions carefully. See video on youtube

Yes, just use a bench power supply if you have one (along with a multi meter at the BNC connectors to measure voltage right at input).

Otherwise create a variable voltage divider circuit on a breadboard and use some LiIon cells (or a number more of AA batteries) to provide clean stable voltage. (Wall warts/power bricks usually are way too noisy)  There have been posts in this thread before about this.
