On topic

https://thehill.com/newsletters/the-gavel/5495046-supreme-court-trump-tariffs/
SCOTUS has said it will fast-track the review of the lower court’s decision.
This should either finalize the legalities and move on, or put the administration on the back foot to use “plan B”.

Trump’s administration is also lobbying the EU on tariffs towards China and India for their support of Russia. If the EU agrees, it might change the dynamics of the China, India, Russia threesome.

it's now the third time I redo an order in Aliexpress.
Despite the clear statement it can be delivered in USA where I live, the two sellers asked me to cancel the order because it could not be shipped to me anymore.

Grrrr.....

Abandon ship! Come back to the motherland!

The other day we delivered an order to the US. Customs office decided that our usual clearance code was not valid and changed it without informing us, bringing in additional duties adding up to 70% of the value of the product (should have been the usual 15-20%).
Customer decided he didn't want to pay so now our goods are held in hostage because customs is waiting for us to pay for the import duties
Gee, i wonder why nobody wants to ship to the US anymore

Tangentially related only due to it being at one of the US's largest trade ports.
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/dozens-shipping-containers-tumble-cargo-ship-water-port-long-beach-rcna230269

Some impacts might be worse than tariffs. One has to wonder what happens to all the goods.

We cannot see what went on behind the scenes, of course.
@tggzzz
This is a lie; you were in the thread where PlainName begged to shut me up.  You remember, the one not everyone can see? You are fully aware of what’s behind those scenes.

As everybody else will understand, posts on this forum are not "behind the scenes" - they are the scenes!

Perhaps you will tell us all how I and others can see PMs to the mods and between the mods.

As for "lie", I am content to let other people decide.

I didn't say anything about PMs or Mods.

There's a supporter's area that's "Behind the scenes", isn't it? Maybe everyone understands that to be true, but you don't?
You were/are in the thread where @PlainName asked for me to be silenced and told to bugger off, aren't you?
If you want the "people" to decide, go ahead and be honest.

Firstly, that's shades of Humpty Dumpty's "glory": you didn't make it clear that's what you meant by "behind the scenes".

Secondly, it is visible to ordinary members so it isn't "behind the scenes".

Hint: use a dictionary to find meanings of words and phrases, e.g. https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/behind-the-scenes "If something happens behind the scenes, it happens without most people knowing about it, especially when something else is happening publicly"

It looks like Mexico has raised tariffs on China. Mexico claims is a broad overall. Analysts say it's to placate the US.

You were/are in the thread where @PlainName asked for me to be silenced and told to bugger off, aren't you?

Just want to clear this up. Nothing to hide:

That topic is for forum members who have reached a minimum number of posts. As such, posting there ensures that only sustained members will see and contribute. I guess the implication is that posters with fewer than those posts may just be fly-by-nights, or there aren't enough posts to check who they are (where 'who they are' is not meant as 'joe bloggs, california' but 'doesn't use hyperbole much, knows his stuff').

However, in the interests of clarity that's irrelevant because I reported your post where you wound up Analog_Kid and then, when he answered you in good faith, you bragged about pushing over:

Quote
Awe I hurt your little feels? Got ya right in the they/thems did I?  I had amassed enough already and was wondering when I can push you over. Loved it, it really is a thing of beauty how you have outed yourself.

For the record, I can't recall reporting a (non-scamming) user before. I tend to just no longer join in, which you will note is what I did in this forum when every other post seemed to be you blasting someone. Anyway, reporting a post is meaningless in itself - users have no rights or control over other users. What it does do is bring the post to a mods attention, and if they think the report is unjustified blowing off then they'll ignore it. But in your case a mod thought it enough to come along and ask you to turn it down (albeit in Simon's not too diplomatic way).

Had you taken note and reduced the level a bit then that would have been it. But, no, you had to take the piss out of that subtle warning:

Quote
I didn't start the insults but I assume something I said got you in the feels. The police are here.

And then carried on as before. After dropping into the thread one day and finding it mostly your rabid banging on I created the thread asking for you to be told to shut up or booted off. Clearly, the mods felt that a) something needed to be done, and b) asking you again would no doubt achieve the same result. Hence you got the boot.

So, now that's in the open you can feel free to tip the hate on me whilst still not understanding that I didn't and can't do anything to you. The mods are the only ones with that power, and they don't pander to any users' whims or requests without justification. It is entirely your fault you annoyed them enough to suffer the consequences.

Just want to clear this up. Nothing to hide:

But you did hide and are still doing it. Your thread was "Any chance of telling cyclotron to shut the f**k up or bugger off to troll a different forum?"
That doesn't sound as nice as what you portray here in this write-up, now does it?

My interactions with Analog Kid were due to his insistence on stalking me in my repair thread and continuously, passively-aggressively, coming at me with grammar reports.

Simon asked that I "Shut up" which appears to be related to my frequency of posting.  I have no idea if Simon is posting as a Moderator or as a poster, since there's no differentiation unless he explicitly states so. I didn't see a rule against posting frequency, and since it generally drives up community engagement, which in turn improves page rank and search, site owners typically encourage it.

I want you to know that I take full responsibility for engaging in these general threads and responding to offenses. I didn't report them because that's the spirit of the law (the forum rules, see rule 4).

I wasn't given the reason for the ban. Regardless, it was what you asked for.
That's my last on the topic to you.

It must be really distressing listening to someone who has another opinion. Best would be to cancel him (2022 or what you are trying to do now) or shoot him (Ohio) or arrest him (England).

Not at all. I enjoy a civil discourse and disagreements. I have disagreed with many many other members over here in the forums and have been civil. None of them have gone beyond
a simple "I disagree with you."
For that matter, I have disagreed with Zero999 in the same thread, it did not escalate like it did with Cyclotron.
No mod has ever deleted any of my posts, I havent received a warning or banned. As others have said, mods would not have banned a member on a whim.

Heck, I made a statement about being polite and courteous a few pages earlier in the same thread... and in all these 99 pages or so, I havent had such a vehement disagreement with anyone else - and I m not the only one.

Then again, how does the saying go (and I m paraphrasing here) - if you have a problem with someone maybe they are asshole, but if you have a problem with everyone, maybe you are the asshole.  :-//

Just so.

I've added that to my list of potential non-trivial extra steps in the importation process. I knew I was too optimistic ;)

Yes, that is always a fair aperture to consider.

In this case, I assume the intent is to put pressure on Russia for its continued war on Ukraine. I don't know if the US or the EU has more at stake in the Ukraine conflict. The Ukrainians have a lot at stake.

With the measures already taken, there's only so much left that might be done to put world pressure on Russia.

The political environment we see globally is being played out as a zero-sum game; compromise and agreement are impossible without showing some "bent knee" appearance.

I other news it appears that India and the US are at the table.

I appreciate your perspective and chiming in. I've had a few conversations with similar perspectives, even in the moderator/admin roles. I was wrong to engage when offended. I failed at adulting; others may have failed in worse ways so I take some solace. The text remains for folks to make up their mind. I'd highly recommend skipping it, it is the best course of action. Sadly the world runs on hate these days and corporations make a lot of money on it.

I believe I failed you also, I believe you warned me. Thank you for that. May I give you the same advice? :)

If I had been here long enough to read the other threads and the characterization of the cadre I would have known going in.
I consider it chapter closed.

It's because everyone walked away from the discussion, after you guys gang up on everyone who doesn't call Trump names and agrees with you.
As I said, if you are in a crowd, who wants people cancelled, arrested or ,because they disagree with you, you are part of the problem.
There are no forum rules that someone cannot disagree with 6 people in a thread. There cannot be. And in any case Cyclotron might be on the right side of things and you on the wrong side, have you thought about that?

1. I agree about walking away, I was one of the first to walk away and disengage.
2. I agree as about that as well, but he wasnt warned because he was expressing his opinion was he. He was warned and banned for attacking members repeatedly, inspite of a mod warning him and multiple members complaining about him isnt it. At this point, it mirrors a democracy and less of a cancel culture.
3. Agreed, there are no forum rules about disagreement, but the forum is run by moderators who operate on member feedback and their judgement - much like it is in the rest of the world. You can choose to agree or disagree with the judgement. If not 6 what would / should be an appropriate size for the quorum? 10? 60? Your choice is as good as mine.
4. He and you and anyone else might be on the right side, granted. I have thought about that, and of course my opinion is mine as is yours and anyone elses. Once again to be very clear, the outcome wasnt because he had an opinion or he expressed it, it was because he was rude and attacking people ( my guess anyway).

FWIW ,the thread ran successfully (with all the deviations and sidetracking for 69 pages). it devolved after that. In those 69 pages, people disagreed, debated, argued and presented their opinions. Many disengaged and went on with their lives. Causal - yes, correlated - certainly not. I ll leave it to you to draw your conclusions after that.

Nevertheless, you are welcome to rebut this post with yours, but as I mentioned, I would like to avoid posting and derailing further and keep on point.
You and I can always find other topics to agree, disagree and debate about and I m looking forward to that.  :D

Case in point - for the last few posts we have had a civil discussion, without neither insulting or being rude. This I m game.

Spot on! Touché :)

For the avoidance of doubt and to prevent any Stalinist revision of history, you were responding to this post...

.

I believe I failed you also, I believe you warned me. Thank you for that. May I give you the same advice? :)

If I had been here long enough to read the other threads and the characterization of the cadre I would have known going in.

The man who targeted and killed Democratic state lawmaker Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark in their home in Minnesota in June was a …
The man charged with the attempted assassination of Pennsylvania’s Democratic governor, Josh Shapiro, in April was a …
The man convicted of orchestrating a series of hootings at the homes of four Democratic elected officials in New Mexico in 2022 was a …
The man who tried to kidnap then Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and assaulted her husband, Paul, in 2022 was a….
The men who wanted to hang Mike Pence on Jan 6, 2021?
The man who killed the son of Obama-appointed District Judge Esther Salas in 2020 was a…
The men who were convicted of trying to kidnap Michigan’s Democratic governor, Gretchen Whitmer, in 2020 were ….

The man who killed left-wing activist Heather Heyer after driving his car into a crowd of counter-protesters in Charlottesville in 2017 was a …

Have some respect. No one accused you or your preferred party of anything. Stay off politics and please try to remain on topic for the thread.

There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.
