Does the x-y mode work correctly? Also the channel inversion?

Would anyone benefit from displaying the reference waveform?

Yes please to displaying the reference waveform (how many are you thinking about using minimum 2 would be great if possible can they be different colours when displaying  )  :-+

It is quite a big intervention in the program. The colors are the least. Orange and green. I think that the reference waveforms would not be scrollable, the time scale would be calculated according to the current time base setting. The volt/div display size does not change. The reference waveform is directly saved to temporary memory for quick comparison or loaded from saved waveforms. Do you accept the limitation of scrolling of ref. waveforms?

Hi Atlan  :) It would be really helpful to have different colours (as you say orange and green) for each waveform captured (Using reference waveform feature ), so they’re easy to distinguish when comparing them against each other. Having the ability to save a waveform to temporary memory for quick comparisons—or load from saved waveforms—would be a great addition. Being able to capture one signal, then capture another to compare at same time (with at least two signals visible) would be a fantastic feature to add to the 1013D oscilloscope. I understand the limitations when it comes to scrolling, and that’s totally fine—I personally accept that trade-off.  :-+ Just wanted to say: you and the team have done a brilliant job with the 1013D over the years. It’s truly appreciated  :D

I'm thinking about whether to put it in the channel menu or in a separate menu. If in a separate menu, then an orange circle next to the channel menu? There is no place to put it. Maybe someday there will be an option to change the calibration frequency, and I wanted to put the generator menu in the red circle on the right.
So how?

What would be suitable? The clock is above the text run/stop/wait

Will there be a reference for each channel? If yes, then IMHO it belongs to the channel menu, if not then additional menu with all new extra features sounds better.
I vote for the pink variant on the right.

I accidentally shorted a rather big usb power bank and burned it's circuitry a while back. But I saved the cells.
Today I thought "hey this may just be the right size for the oscilloscope" and I wasn't wrong, it is such a perfect fit! Not only the width and height, but the thickness fits perfectly in the compartment left by the handle.

It has some weight to it too. Anybody knows what's the capacity of the original (blue) one? I'd assume 4 or 5Ah from the size. This one 2x8Ah

Hi Dbuezas  :) According to the Fnirsi website, the 1013D Oscilloscope comes with a 6000mAh internal rechargeable battery, which allows for up to 4 hours of continuous use. Hope this helps  :-+

Hi Atlan  :) thanks for the reply! As long as the real-time clock is visible on the 1013D oscilloscope, that’s perfect. ( i personally like its current position) I use the clock to help with note-taking during measurements  :-+ , and it also provides a time/date stamp when capturing, which is really helpful.

I moved the clock above the start stop text, which frees up space on the right. And the version designation can be reduced to fit under the battery icon, or removed altogether, because it is also in the diagnostic menu. When I have time, I will move the settings from the diagnostic menu to the settings (instead of the always trigger 50% menu, this menu will go to the trigger menu). That will take many hours of work. (only the channel inversion took over 5 hours)
I might release a beta version, unfinished, for you to try out the REF wave feature. But I haven't started working on it yet.

Hi Atlan  :D All sounds good! As you mentioned, the 50% feature isn’t something I use often myself. Like you said, keeping the main screen focused on key tasks is important—sometimes less is more, especially when there's a lot going on.

Right now, I’m working on a timing circuit and using my other oscilloscope to reference waveforms for accurate timing. Being able to view a reference waveform (live or captured) alongside one or two other signals on the 1013D would be a fantastic feature—especially since it’s compact enough to fit on my bench and much more portable than my Owon scopes.

I’m sure many others on this forum are just as excited as I am to see the results of your hard work. Wow—5 hours just for inversion? That’s some serious dedication. Sounds like you have a big task ahead, so best of luck!

I’d be happy to try out a beta version with the reference waveform feature—just send over any instructions or guidance you have, and I’ll give it a go Thanks again  :-+

Hi Atlan  :D Thanks so much for the quick response — everything looks good to me!

The new spacing by the Battery icon & firmware version fine to me ? Being Picky here, but would it be possible to nudge the time down by a pixel or two? It's sitting just below my top black border (you’ll see what I mean in the picture I sent). thank you

Agree when "less is more" comment especially on primary screen.

Random UI ideas across the top to save space if anyone also thinks worthwhile as you try to either gain space for new stuff, or lessen the overload:

- Clock could be placed within the menu to set time / debug screen. It's there to stamp images, we don't use the scope as a clock, so no need to appear front and center. I have enough devices that show me the time.
- Likewise, version could be removed from main screen. Though it is helpful for now as you take videos and screenshots addressing problems?
- Remove the Microsoft/Windows 8 styling from the Menu icon, the rest of the UI doesn't really use tiles so doesn't feel related. Consider either just using 3 line "hamburger" on a narrow button (giving even more space across the top), or additionally with Menu text to the right, but make it a bit narrower with the hamburger lines
- Move battery icon above new smaller RUN/STOP indicator, would even give a bit wider space to visualize percentage used (my image below I was able to scale the battery icon by 50% to align with Run)
- I'd like to do something about the sunburst icon and possibly move fast/slow as far as better positioning (though having more space and the button frame around the sunburst definitely helped), but haven't come up with any idea yet. Possibly between Menu and RUN may be better location as it's more "setup" and not specific to the trace itself like the others.

Thanks for all your continued work on everything!

Edit: Seeing the new post above mine, swapping time and battery icon would work better given width of adjacent text -- assuming you want to keep both time and version on the main screen.  Then less space needed as Run indicator is narrower than the time while the battery is narrower.

But if you don't want to move the battery, then could change the version indicator to V.026k would also save horizontal width and make closer to existing width of battery

All top icons and menus are now moveable (by changing the x and y coordinates - just change a few numbers) except for the menu triggers (I'll work on that if I have time). This will greatly simplify any menu movement. I enlarged the light icon to the size of a finger. Battery green run green it will blend. I'll think about it. There will be enough space at the moment. If REFmod is in the channel menu..... The fact is that creating a new menu is faster than moving something in an existing one.

The top menu is 5 pixels lower than the 0 of the display (either you have a poorly placed display, or the image is shifted up) it can be moved in software.

The clock needs to be moved a little to the left.

How do you like the rounded shapes of the icons? I think it looks much better than the sharp edges of the rectangles.

Thanks again for your work on updating the 1013D Oscilloscope with Beta version V0.026k — much appreciated!

I agree that less is more, but I do think keeping the Realtime display visible is a good idea. If the main battery were to die or something went wrong, it could potentially corrupt the Realtime display, and you wouldn't even know. I use the save feature with the time and date stamped into the saved picture and waveform — such a great feature! There have been days when I’ve completely forgotten what I worked on, and the timestamp really helps keep my measurements organized.

Personally, I’m not too fussed about having the firmware version visible on the main menu. I think the clock could sit nicely next to the battery icon instead. And just to add — I’ve never really used the sun/brightness icon myself. Hope this feedback is helpful! :-+

The brightness icon is for car repairmen. You have the brightness set, you go to the car, the sun is shining, and you have to adjust the brightness to see anything. This is how you can do it with one click.

Do you need a poll to keep the brightness icon?

The run indicator right of the menu button could actually be a button. Then the one at the right bar could be removed
