They do that, and we introduce tariffs. Everyone seems to be doing something that benefits them.
Almost like a country is not a charity.

No problem with that so long as they don't treat it as a zero sum game. And that's exactly what the Trump administration is doing - they reckon they can't win if someone else doesn't lose, whereas done sensibly both sides could win.

It's again just the complete opposite:

Why didn't we have a thousand page long thread back then? No TDS?

They were trying to adapt their election campaign. Acting against China's mercantilism was something they could understand. The current administration is just bullying everybody and breaking contracts pretending they have a plan. There is a big difference.

Dunno. Where were you?

But isn't that deflection via whataboutery? As you note, there wasn't a fuss then, but we are here now and there is.

Pointing out double standards is not whataboutism. Whataboutism would be if I would bring up Obama drone striking people, something unrelated.

What Biden may or may not have done is irrelevant to what Trump is actually doing right now. We could say a lot, a very bigly lot, about what Trump did the first time round, but unless that's having an effect now it would also be irrelevant. What you're doing really is whataboutery - what about Biden, what about 2020, what about all the stuff that isn't relevant now.

If you read the second tweet (or whatever is called) it's a clear rebuttal of the claim you made.
Not only was it not true, it is the opposite of truth.

What specific claim did I make that was rebutted, and what was the rebuttal? There's loads of stuff here and you could be thinking of anything, so don't beat about the bush.

It may appear as double standard for someone who doesn't (want to) understand the difference. I pointed out the difference.

bla bla bla  "We want to see for the good of both the US and China"
But you can also just look up quotes from him as far back as you want.
Your previous president is literally "we need to beat them". This one " We should negotiate", but you are blinded by your TDS and cannot see the forest from the trees.

Once again, I'm not making this up, this is what they teach in economy class.
Yes, you are making this up. You are taking a basic economic concept, which literally states that prices will rise as a result of tariffs, and trying to argue otherwise. This is funny. The most hilarious part was the bit about $1 luxury items. Please, do continue entertaining us.

Do you understand the difference between targeted tariffs and blanket tariffs applied to every country, including uninhabited islands populated only by penguins?

Yes I understand. He was running on a platform saying:
"Universal baseline tariffs on most foreign products"
Are you angry at an elected politician implementing his promises?

He also said that China would pay the tariffs, not his constituents. Are you at all angry with him for that little lie?

Oh, that. You don't actually believe the stuff he comes out with, do you? He isn't going to say "Well, I fucked up there so I'll be the first to blink. Again." No, it is always made out to be good for everyone. He lies through his teeth and without shame, so it pointless taking anything he says as gospel. Sorry, but you've been had.

That would be "soft eugenics", which several people have observed is the consequence (deliberate or otherwise) of several of the T'rump administration policies.
Hey, stop complaining about Trump (to the US folks). After all, I'd never voted for Putin as a president but he wins the election again and again. I very much doubt it actually works in a different way in the other places

That is not a complaint per se; it is an observation.

I will continue to make observations about T'rump and Putin in appropriate parts of this forum.
Ditto complaints, especially where I see bad behaviour which will affect myself and others.

Now that the stock markets are reaching historic heights, taxes are being cut, I don't see people complaining anymore.
The threat of tariffs got a bunch of countries to the negotiating table.
Was it really worth it? All the complaining, and echoing the MSM talking points? That are not only false, the opposite of what they said actually happened.

Too early to tell - the effects of the tariffs, job layoffs, more ill-health, detention by goons wearing balaclavas to hide their identity, etc haven't hit people yet.

Removing illegals is great. It's just enforcing the law. People will be wrongly arrested and charged which of course is bad, but that happens every day for numerous other crimes, yet it doesn't gain the same level of coverage. I bet wrongful arrest for illegal immigration is tiny, compared to the number of wrongful arrests in total.

I don't support the tariffs, but so far, they're not as bad as all the talking heads have said. All I see is a load of hysteria.

The tariffs have been on pause and the pause is running out right about now.

EU thinks it can negotiate a 10% blanket tariff, but that might just be wishful thinking.

I don't disagree.

But that's not what is happening.

Armed hoodlums concealing their identity, spotting someone who "doesn't look right", abducting them and disappearing them without due process, and against court directives.

That's banana republic behaviour (police and/or criminal gangs). Full stop.
