Nice free one saved from going in the junk box. Look @ ze ol' one going head to head with a GPSDO !! that can't be right
An excellent freebie, indeed!
Wow, that's quite a score (double-score). So, keep one and sell one to offset your much-more-expensive Keysight DMM?
Well here it is - nice bright display, seems to be in good condition. The white faceplate on the right side is a little yellowed, typical of of something that has been close to a window, but I can easily fix it with some peroxide the next time the sun is shining.
Edit: Firmware is v2.2
[GW Instek GDM-8251A] Have you determined yet if it measures voltage and current simultaneously or interleaved?

Update ... it started showing 10000.000 !!! WHAAAT !!! That is crazy
A great save, I like the large LED displays esp if done well with the right shade of perspex in front of the LED to reduce glare etc, I find so much more readable than LCD and just a bit better than fluorescent.

Yea I just tried a DVC & DCA test, its interleaved, takes both a voltage and current measurement each second.
Kikusui DC Load. Not exactly cheap due to shipping and import cost, but well needed

Which model? Photos? I was eyeballing some older Kikusui DC loads but decided not to buy them. Maybe that was a mistake... or not...
I have two Kikusui DC Loads. I'm a fan of this old school equipment in that you turn it on, and its ready to use immediately, and you don't have to hunt around a keypad when setting a value. Very simple to use 10 turn pot to adjust desired current level.
I retrofitted the smaller PLZ 72W I have with a cheap eBay dual display so I can see load voltage and current simultaneously. The larger Kikusui load I have already had dual displays. My only complaint is that the fan is a bit noisy.
I'm still considering picking up one of the more modern Maynuo DC loads.

That would be an option. But... hmm.. That would mean that I would have to sell Test Equipment :O Impossibru!
Picked up a very nice HP 3468B. Has the battery option but of course the battery is dead and I have no intention of replacing it (but I am removing it). Nonetheless, it's in great condition and satisfies my desire to collect more DMMs than I have any real need for.

Congratulations to your HP5328B with option 010. I'd think you must have the oven stabilized oscillator option (unless you 'timed' the picture just right ;-) , as the standard oscillator is just so-so (TC of 2.5ppm/C). I don't mind, as my 5328A is fed a reference clock from a GPSDO. And yes, short term, there's no reason why an ovenized oscillator shouldn't be able to compete with a GPSDO (after all, that's what they use too).
I know of at least 2 probe Asian probe manufacturers
Prove it
When you drop by for that shoot we talked about I will, but not publically, I need to protect my product sources and some small commercial advantage.
A bit of time spent x referencing what's available on eBay and Aliexpress and from manufacturers will find them too.
In fact I'll raise that to 3.

Yes it has two options installed, 001 which is the OCXO and 050 which is the 1.3GHz C channel and DVM. the DVM part is a tad off compared to my FLUKE meter but seem to be able to measure voltage on the other input channels that go to 100Mhz , I wonder if it really measures AC at that frequency, that would be pretty slick... Time to RTFM i guess.
[/size]Now only if this thing wold not take up a quarter of my bench.... But that may be solved by letting it to take off and fly .. it sounds like a jet plane ready to take off .

That just means you need a bigger bench or maybe a 19 inch rack.
I quite like having a slightly raised shelf behind by bench for keeping the test gear on.
I also like to change out any loud fans in my test equipment. The AC induction motor fans used in some old test gear are loud as heck, tho they do also move an insane amount of air. But something like this probably doesn't need that much air flow.
Picked up an HP-8640 yesterday at the Palm Springs Hamfest.
Only problem is the counter int/ext switch is broken but the last owner wired it into the internal position.
Since I have two counters this is no big deal...
Hundred Bucks, not bad....
Stacking order is very important! That looks like a 5245L under the 8640.

I may have to reinforce the floor There is some more HP Iron in my future.
That is a project to talk about on another day.
The generator works... As noted above the counter switch is hardwared in the int position...
I wonder if someone makes copies of all those plastic gears.......

It is indeed.

It works best there...
Besides that thing is almost as heavy as the 8640...

There's a guy on the HP mailing list that was selling brass replacements for it, but they were around $200 for the set, so I decided to roll the dice and hope the ones in mine stay together. I can dig back and try to find his contact info if you'd like.
Conrad Hoffman has made cast replacements:
http://conradhoffman.com/HP8640B_gears.htmAnd there was someone on E-bay a while back also selling cast resin ones, but I can't find anything with a quick search at this point.
FWIW...

Thanks Pat...
I'll pass on the brass, That is a bit pricey for me.
The castings have my interest.....
Thank You.
