The wavecrest SIA's are rather impressive.
Please, let us know, when you put listing of these on ebay. Please please.
Found a used but as good as new 1kW variac in the bin yesterday, complete with knob, dial etc. I was looking for one for a while, as my other variac is only 150W, but they where too damn expensive, or in horrible shape. Yesterday was a good day

I will actually put them up here before I head over to eBay. Less fees. Easier to fine tune price for a specific country, bussiness or no, shipping etc etc. More trust, too
So if anyone wants anyting of the above, shoot me a PM. But please no low-balling. Kinda wanna make a profit in the end.
I'll now get out of this thread as it is for bragging and drooling only. O0
Picked up a really, really nice HP 8566B locally today. I think it was a steal at $500USD. Has the cables, display unit, complete. I thought my 8568B was a great deal and low and behold, this thing showed up on craigs list. I am just sitting here amazed. (Have to sit because I strained my back putting it on the bench). Thanks to Orin for not talking me out of it.
So now I'm wondering if my 85685 preselector will work with it? I also have an 8444 with option 059 that I would like to use in the 0-2G for tracking but the IF is different so I need to figure out a tracking generator. I've seen all the posts and youtubes on how to make one so I guess I'll go hunting.
Setting aside how heavy these units are, I find it difficult to believe people would rather buy a Rigol for 3X the price of this thing.
Oh, you know, I may have picked up a thing or two yesterday...

Some need a bit or a lot of TLC but I'm guessing for the next few days I may be the "Host With The Most"
I would bet $5 that I can't afford a single thing on that list.
Humor me, which item do you suppose is the cheapest, and how much would it be?
There's a mono color 4ch 500MHz HP that will probably go for a few hundred?

Btw, see ebay 391505546407 HP 8566B Spectrum Analyzer (REPAIR/PARTS) US $399.99
I'd be really tempted, if I had the money now. Which I don't.
How does the HP 8566B perform against the Rigol DSA815-TG or Siglent SSA3021X in terms of the following?
- User interface friendliness
- Sweep speed
- Internal noise floor
- Spurious response

I have a HP 8566B on its way in the mail as we speak.
Its difficult to compare it to the rigol due to the way they specify noise and such, but they should be pretty close in performance apart from the bandwith and UI. The HP doesn't seam as intuitive but you do have a dedicated button for almost everything rather than digging trough menus.
The HP 8566B is an old boat anchor but it does have some nice features. However the Advantest R3477 I bought recently is a much more modern one and you should be able to get a fully working one for around $1400 after waiting and haggling a bit.
Fluke 510A @ 2400Hz. About $74.xx w/ s&h. Shipped out late yesterday afternoon, at my house by lunchtime. Gotta love instate shipping.
I just picked a Tektronix 454A old school scope for audio work. Dirty as hell but in mint shape otherwise. Was owned by IBM at some point as their logo is on the front and sides with the rest of the lettering. Also have a vintage HP 711A, vacuum tube regulated power supply on the way, up to 500vDC @100ma, perfect for some low current plate circuits on vacuum tube gear.

This has been discussed at length. There is no comparison between those two analyzers and the 8568b or the 8566b. The only thing they have going for them over the HP units is that you don't need a crane to move them. I think the UI on the HP is hard to beat. I have an advantest as well with the TG and I hate having to hit multifunction buttons and menus to get anything done. Also, I have the 85685 preselector and preamp and with that combo the noise floor is incredibly low.
I got a HP 6623A power supply sold as non working for $106 delivered (only bidder in an auction). I cleaned the keypad and checked everything, all 3 channels work well. I think what helped is that the auction pictures made it look way worse than it actually was, poor thing looks like it fell off a truck.

Considering Microlease is still trying to get nearly 12K for them, it's a hell of a deal.
Someone locally had racks of HP power supplies, all of them high wattage, on craigslist. I just didn't have the room.
I'm on a roll, i just got a Phillips PM2534 sold as not working for $40 plus $15 shipping, seller claimed the mA AC range was measuring way too high. Turns out he had the guard switch in the off position, putting putting it in the right position or using a guarded probe fixed it. LOL
I wanted to do a repair thread but i got hit by dave's repair curse.
Not so much a work bench but a newly acquired storage area for some test equipment, stereo gear and other stuff, a customer had this cabinet sitting in his garage and had intentions of going at it with a chainsaw as nobody wanted it and they are worth nothing much nowadays anyway, I explained that I may have a use for it and as it turned out I did, the thing is huge at about 2500 long, 1500 high, 560 deep and weighs 3 crushed vertebrae (a new unit of measure).
I gave it a good clean and replaced a couple of wheels so it is now easy to move about for cleaning and getting to any cables I might add at the rear, I have a couple of shelves to add over the weekend and it also came with a nifty multimeter rack with adjustable shelves, lead storage drawer and everything.
I’m saving the forests one cabinet at a time.
