2. Nothing is demanded from your country.
I expect them to understand and to cooperate
Pick a line and stick to it.
Nobody owe you a thing, even the US.
Nobody owes the US anything. You, or at least, the government you chose, are demanding things from other countries. You are behaving as if they owe you the purchase of goods they do not want in exchange for selling you things you do.
Did you miss how Canada is the target of tariffs as a punitive
[1] measure until they respond to a demand that they secure their outgoing border against purported drug trade? Never mind that inbound border security is your job, you demand others do it for you..
[1] Against your own citizens who actually pay
I have many friends in America and other countries facing serious financial disruption as a result. Because you're here demanding other nations harm themselves to benefit you.
1. Every change causes disruption with winner and losers, including rebalancing international trade.
2. Nothing is demanded from your country. If you want to trade with the US then do, and if you don't, then don't.
Nobody owe you a thing, even the US.
But if you are too good at trading with the US, you must be punished.

"Punished" suggests entitlement.
The US is not interested in imbalanced trade with your country and will buy less. Nobody owe you a thing.

Can’t wait until you have to pay much more for all the stuff you buy from other countries.
Or start complaining you can’t buy the items at all.
The people of the US are the ones that will be most f*cked.

That's an internal matter to the US and none of your business.
The US is a black box that chose to buy less from your country as it's entitled to do.

No, the government chosen by some of the US chose to charge extreme tariffs under false pretenses and then lie to the people paying them, but apart from that.. you were addressing an American. So either you're trolling or that's just how little attention you pay.

If you say so. Have a nice day.

Trolling.
I've been wondering that for a few days. Today that became clear.
that's exactly our business!
the US is imposing other countries how to run their business, so the same goes for the US:
stay out of others business and don't interfere with their markets.

Currently many of the people who voted for Trump have no regrets, even if they are being hurt a little. There's no sign of buyers remorse. Why not? Because they see the people they hate being hurt more, e.g. elite institutions, scapegoats and bogeymen that the Republican party has spent years blaming for the state of the US.
Most of his supporters don't care about (temporary) falls in the stock market, because they don't have shares and know they are at the bottom end of vast inequality. When that happens, people are happy to burn the (i.e. someone else's) house down.
The only thing that has caused Trump to pause and roll back on his tariffs is the shock he caused to the Treasury bond market.

If the US were not interested in imbalanced trade, how did it occur?
Did an expeditionary force from other countries land here and force us to accept goods and services?
BTW, it' not of my business, but it seems with the current US administration they have a perfect chance to resolve the long overdue problem of measurement units. To nominate a metric tzar so everyone wishing to get a government contract must use the SI system in the project documentation. Cheap, simple and effective way to finally get rid of MPH, PSI, etc.
MPH
You are aware the usa aint the only place to use MPH?

Perhaps if there were a substantial popular opinion amongst the citizenry to do this, it might happen.
The United States has been on the metric system, and thereafter on SI, since 1959.
In normal commerce, US labels show both "conventional units" (NOT "imperial") and metric.
How would reducing imports of foreign goods, usually labeled in metric, by tariff policy facilitate your idea?
We should have been more serious about going metric years ago. then I could have complained bitterly years ago and gotten over it by now,.

I usually say that the US went metric in 1959, but forgot to tell anyone about it.
(There was a small change in the definition of the US yard, producing a new value for the US inch and mile, to agree with the UK definition.
However, the conventional unit for gasoline and milk, the US gallon, remained at a quite different definition than the Imperial gallon, used in the UK and Canada at that time.)

Trolling about the Metric system? This can be a barb but the West has bigger fish to fry.
Being next door to the USA, Canadians are accustomed to using either measurement system. Simple math, no problem, we know both as well as the British measurement units.
Some industries are Imperial measurement only, others Metric. Not a trading or economic concern at all.

It makes no difference, since anyone with basic arithmetic can convert between units and nowadays computers can do it in the blink of an eye. Anyway, it's off-topic and will get this thread locked.

Money isn't everything. Many people will vote for something even if it makes them financially worse off.
And what if there's some truth that elite institutions are causing everyday people harm? I can think of many instances when that's been the case, but it's off topic and not something we should debate here.
It targets countries with imbalanced trade, and I expect them to understand and to cooperate in balancing the trade.
Wrong
Trump’s tariffs ALSO targets countries with pre-existing balanced trade.
The only reason why you didn’t know that is because you refuse to listen.

Yes, countries like Australia, got the minimal global tariff of 10%.
Nobody owe you a thing.
What just about nobody mentions is that because of the blotched trade formula they presented is that what they really want (in the end) is to go back (in effect) to a pseudo barter type system.
That is, USA will only trade with you xx billions of goods if you purchase (pretty much) the same amount of goods from the USA.
Doubt it. The EU offered 0% for 0% back in March, and again when the latest fun started. Still got hit with 20% because Trump has to have the bigger number, whatever it represents.

In german media, it was claimed that the US wants the EU to buy more "Energy" (i think in the form of LNG) from them.
But that is cheaper available elsewhere, so there is (or rather was) little economic incentive to buy specifically from the US.
Then there is the thing with the clorinated chicken, that the US dearly would like to sell to the EU, but we do not want it.
I think that these are issues that are amongs those that the tariffs are intended to adress. With little success so far.
