Found myself accidentally just hitting the unreadreplies URL in my browser here (muscle memory!!!) while sorting some shit out so figured I better post a reply... Household has had one lying cheating witch evicted. Kids remain. I shall leave my explanation of the problems at that as this is my escape hatch really at the moment.
To quote Cave Johnson: "When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these?! Demand to see life's manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give CAVE JOHNSON LEMONS! DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?! I'm the man who's GONNA BURN YOUR HOUSE DOWN! WITH THE LEMONS! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that BURNS YOUR HOUSE DOWN!"
On a positive note the 2235 multiplier and the stuff from RS arrived but I fear if I wield a soldering iron for a couple of weeks I might insert it in someone.
Anyway back to getting nits out of the kids post-school![]()

I'm just catching up, and I'd got to "be away for a while" earlier and then this. Don't know what to say man, don't know what to say.
We've got your back man, always remember that. But keep a wary eye on that dragon, like don't do any training course "trust exercises" with him, or accept any glasses of "this little nut brandy made by a friend of mine" - you'll wake up in a dive bar in Budapest with a lipstick printed card hung around your neck saying "It was fun, love Fifi".
Channeling through LemonsIt was just an appropriate way to treat the sh1t life sometimes throws our way.
I put off doing anything with this beast as I was looking for an unobtanium (unless I sold a kidney) power cable for this 895A. Bit of a rough head but converting to 240V and the plug swap is underway. Fluke picture porn just because![]()

Any remember my long suffering 5340A? Anyone at all?
....
Now i have a 5340A without a counting board and with no signal lock
Bugga. I have a working one in the rack if it can help for voltages or anything similar but I apart from popping it's top on arrival I know nothing about it really other than it works well.
Sigh, I am a man with two clocks. The Advantest and 34401a have been running for 5 hours or so and have both sitting +-1 on the last digit against the 735a as a reference so nice they all track together. Temperature today has been very stable and they only disagree by 0.0046% but the uncertainty of the Agilent is likely better or closer to the truth being the newer and much more recently calibrated one or is it
0.0046% out is tiny but is the equivalent of a smidge under 4 seconds a day in clock terms so this just confirms I need a better calibrated clock. 3458a where are you?
Meanwhile a careful recal of the Advantest to match the 34401a I think is the non voltnuttery/metrology standard fix but more than plenty for this shack.
Just means you don't have enough multimeters yet. I'm sure one of them HP 3458A would settle the debate, just make sure you don't get two of them, then you are back at the same problem.

The one thing I am certain of is my uncertainty is uncertain

It's a voltnut metrology thing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Measurement_uncertainty
Statistical uncertainty is applied as a deviation from a 'known standard' in my case that has some uncertainty and is less certain because my 34401a is out of calibration making it overall have a higher uncertainty. Cofused yet? Because I am

]The more meters you have the more confused you will get unless you adopt an attitude of say 3 decimal places must agree, the others are for most purposes irrelevant. [emoji48]

I used to be happy with just two but then three came into my life which I knew was more accurate than two. I then found this forum and the Metrology section and found there was so much uncertainty in my meters that I brought six digits of recently calibrated meter. Just as my life was becoming more certain I built my first reference and discovered drift and aging which started the uncertainty increasing again so I built another and they didn't agree then I found this place and you all enabled me so I brought a commercial reference by.......
