Yes. The only thing it can’t do is find things I don’t know I want yet. That’s where this thread comes in
As I've stated before, that's why I hate these forums. They're a great source of information about tools you never knew existed, but which you absolutely, positively can't live another week without. The poor bank account can't catch a break.
My 8300A came today and before i mention it let me first mention my favorite/lucky number is 42.
It was made in '76 (42 years old) delivered at 1:42 pm and the thing is practically brand new. Very few hours, the
nixies still look brand new, no stickers on the unit except for the metal barcode tag on the front. No scratches or marks not caused by riding a shelf for 40+ years. The thing even has the ohms converter installed.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAdqV37DDDU&feature=youtu.beSo you may ask, if it has all that going for it, whats wrong with it?
The fuse holder it came with won't hold a fuse, easy enough fix.
Thanks, I will let you know. Had another look at the DPS5015, no other sign of physical damage and the fuses are still good, but -50v on the ground plane probably not healthy for the ICs. I'll try tracing some voltages, not much else to do tonight.
Did your replacement from Amazon arrive and does it work??

You can cross-breed them with Brrrruce, my pet Land Shark. Then you donn' need no steenkeeng trenchezz...

Oh, the stud fees on this one are gonna kill you... and I get 2nd pick of the litter.

I think I'll pass on the stud, its an ugly bastard anyway. I suppose the only reason you have that critter is to keep the elephants away and at that its really effective
Hey guys and dolls, don't look now but with in the next couple of days we'll pass the 300 pages of TEA.

TEA is apparently contagious.
Completely random thing. I was looking at grabbing some more resistors in as there are a couple of naff ones in my Fluke 8000A. So I looked and I found that I have no 100 ohm reisistors. Well I do but they're shitty carbon films which are too sucky to put in test gear. Off to RS...
If I buy 20x TE LR1F series 0.6W 1% axial 100 ohm resistors it's going to cost me £0.77.
If I buy 1000x TE LR1F series 0.6W 1% axial 100 ohm resistors it's going to cost me £1.37.
Am I ever going to use 1000x 100 ohm resistors??!? Decisions decisions! Can anyone think of any uses for that many of them? Shall I just buy that and sell them 900 of them on ebay to a wally? Or even better should I just empty them of them. This has to be a data entry error lol. That's stupid cheap.
That's $15.59 even from Tayda for 1/4W cheapies.

At that price i'd consider buying them out.
Just bought two boxes. If they turn up and I don't get mugged then I'll buy the rest out lol (if you lot haven't done it by then).
Someone is selling them for £2 for 10 on ebay
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/39081356800264p to send including envelope and stamp. 45p in eBay/paypal's pocket. £2 sale price. 2000 available. 2-.64-.45 = 91p per sale. That's 182 quid for £3 investment. Slave labour available as well (eldest).

Buy 1000, donate the rest to your local hackspace.
Build a Decade box using series/parallel 100 ohm resistors. The 1 Meg range should be fun

My daughter simply adores 'im, and 'es quite protective. Gotta think of when she reaches dating age, doncha know.

A 10:1 resistance divider for load testing amps without blasting your eardrums out. 'tronics Critter art supplies. Ballast resistors for 1000 LED array. Decade box. Non-exactly-safe toothpicks. Diaper pins. Fix 498 more Fluke 8000As. Axles to fix a Matchbox car. Tiny little barrels for model railroading. Ammo. Earrings for the wife.

https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/through-hole-fixed-resistors/1680192/Still there. Although I notice I haven't had order confirmation come through yet. That usually happens pretty quick. Wonder if this product is held
If indeed I do receive a couple of boxes, I'll give 1000 to local hack space (good idea tggzzz), sell 500 on ebay (to recoup investment only) and keep 500 I think.
I spent the day calibrating all of my multimeters against a known voltage reference, now all of them agree with each other, thats all 15 of them, pretty easy really., so I can pick any one of them and know thats spot on
Found a better deal - 4000 for £1.36:

This has to be a data import error hahaha. I'll probably be charged £50 in the morning.
Says they have thirty-five 4000ct rolls... can get into a heap o' trouble with 140,000 resistors. Well, a heap o' SOMETHIN', anyways... that's what you'll have.

That's the easy bit. Your next task is to get somebody else's meter to read the same
You may need to get your wallet out.

That's great news, neo. I was very tempted to get that one because of its great condition and especially since it had the AC and Ohms converters. Congrats on a great score.
I'd love to see what the boards are like inside, if you get adventurous.
In related news, vintage scores have been crossing my path over the past few weeks for some reason. So, I gathered them together into a little stack for you all. Here's my recent hundred-dollar vintage haul:
BK Precision 177 VTVM
HP 3310A function gen
Sprague TO-6 capacitor bridge/tester
HP 5327A Nixie counter
HP 200CD vacuum tube oscillator
They're all crusty looking, but pretty much complete. The BK 177 even has its original probe and alligator ground lead, although the cables need replacing. The TO-6 is working; I don't yet know how the others fare.
