@neo, chuck a few brooms out to make a bit more space then. Problem is if your like me, you accumulate new items and also the repair queue grows longer by the day, or how I long for a space the size of a garage, problem in reality, no mater how big the space, given the cash, we'd soon fill it again and some
Unfortunately i already chucked out the brooms. I HAD an entire garage and a dining room, until that is i bought an entire shed (minus the actual building). Got a couple TEA goodies and alot of things to screw with. That was a couple of years now and I've spent alot of the time since either buying more (HAMFESTS!) or trying to get rid of the crap. I'm sure getting rid of crap is easier when you aren't a hoarder like i am.
I'm thinking maybe hoarding is either a by product of having TEA or its a prerequisite for TEA
If is a by product my mother would have to be the biggest test equipment addict of all! Were talking about a woman who, at one point, saved hundreds of pasta sauce jars.
Don't know about the Tek 465 or the nut you are trying to remove, but I find a set of Imperial size AF ignition spanners or similar is a must for repairing old Tek & HP TED's, along with the appropriate Allen keys for the knobs. I actually have quite a large collection of old miniature spanners now.
Yes have to agree with the allen keys. I'll just buy another set I think. It's not like I don't use them.
These are the ones I had but I'll be buggered if I'm paying that for a set:

Maybe, only she can't tell a multimeter from a power supply, she can tell a multimeter from a scope but only because a scope has a larger screen.
Yeah, for an icon, definitely simplified.
We gotta get that added to the emoticons! If you don't ask I will!
If you can get approval for it, then I can make a version that's small enough to fit. The shortcut for it could be
+-)
I'd actually like to have it as a post icon, which appears to the left of the post's title.
How about you (bitseeker) add it to the original post (with the glossary). People could then go there, copy the image address and use that to add the image in their post. An explanation could be given as well.
Yes, that is Plan B. Since xrunner proposed getting it added as an icon, it's currently Plan A.
Who says we can't have both?
My stuff is in the living room. I can’t work out if she’s tolerant or collecting ammunition.
I don't think I will spoil the illusion for you.
Fekking muppets on fleaBay... Looks like I'm going to have to file another "Not as described" claim for this dingle.

I received this item and another item in yesterday's mail via ePACKET TRK # LK594*****CN; unfortunately both these items were in a plain sleeve mailer and got severely crushed in transit.
As you can see from the photos, this caddy arrived badly twisted and will not go more than halfway into either of my laptops. Worse yet, it is not the item I ordered. As you can see by the last two pictures, I ordered the version WITH front faceplate; this caddy does not have it.
How do we make this right? I believe you have to initiate the process to file for a shipping damage claim.
Thank you for your attention in this matter,

Yeah, I checked again this morning; no magic elves fixed the stuff overnight. The mouse pad is still messed up, and the caddy still isn't what I ordered, and it still doesn't fit in either of my laptops.
Now will you please file a shipping damage claim?
Thank you for your time,

That sounds like typical response from a Chinese seller. Personally I would press for a refund now via the eBay system. This muppets next move will be to offer sending replacements which probably, like mine, will never arrive. Of course they will keep some sparse dialogue going upto the eBay cutoff point for filing a claim expires then they will ignore you. Claim now, once bitten twice shy as dear old Mum used to say.
I would add my vote here as well.
If I think the seller might
really be trying to do the right thing, I will double check the eBay rules and lodge a claim no later than
two days before the deadline. (That makes sure I don't get caught out on date/time differences.)
For the above scenario, I'd be hovering over the claim button and if the next communication didn't offer a clear path for resolution within the above timeframe, I'd be firing it off quicksmart.
Did anyone buy this very nice but very expensive boatanchor?

In my defense, it's the first time I've ever seen one come up, I've been searching for one for a long time (over four years now), and it looks pretty pristine. I was not going to let it get away if I could help it.
That being said, bidding two seconds too early cost me $70 because it gave the other guy time to bump his bid by another $60 in literally the last second of the auction.
Now the hunt 524 variants remains...

My stuff is in the living room. I can’t work out if she’s tolerant or collecting ammunition.
Incidentally on the VTVM front I don’t want to put the resistor in the case because the whole point is it presents a large impedance at the probe tip, not after 3 feet of low quality inductor and capacitor (test lead). That means you can actually just whack the thing on a point in an RF or valve circuit without it getting annoyed.
Just got my knob for the 7603 and installed it. All good there now. It’s basically done ... however on the space front I’m not sure I can keep it. It doesn’t fit on the drawer units
Can we now measure wife tolerances in units of TEA?

Question for the Tektronix experts in here: does anyone know what size nut spinners I need to get the vertical board out on my 465? It's the nuts on the front panel. Looks like 1/4" to me.
I have actually lost my set of smelly old Xcelite ones somewhere or they have been nicked
I can confirm without question it is 1/4".
TBH it's the Chinese sellers I get no problems with usually other than selling crap to start with. Best to buy that sort of stuff on Aliexpress though. They don't get their money until you confirm the delivery and leave feedback so they will generally lick butt.
I don't normally, but it's that opening gambit, it's like a giveaway to what's going to follow. They know it's still going to be the same result, no matter how many times it's tried. It's a stalling tactic.
Yeah they can be good at that.
Two lots of comms back and forth and if it's not sorted.......claim !
Yeah, I know... I just had to share this SMH moment; vent a little.
Oh, look... here's his response this morning:

"SOME refund"... uh huhh. Yeah... Okay, I'll play along a LITTLE longer and request a refund nicely before filing a claim; I'm bored and I haven't finished my coffee.

Yep, I have seen this exact same reply, suck you in and think maybe they are trying to help you so you accept a resend only the re-sent item never arrives and it goes till your window of opportunity runs out then and only then you hear the door being slammed shut. Raise a claim now.
I had a buyer raise a claim over a meter I sold that inadvertently had the fuses left out, he was chatting with about can I resolve the problem and I'd already said yes and that I'd pop them in the post the following morning, 1st class post so he should have them the next day. Then all of a sudden I get an open dispute claim from Ebay where he had told them that he did not expect a favourable response from me so wanted a refund.
He claimed that the meter would not work without the fuses, which is not correct, fuses are required on a Fluke 25 to measure current, all other ranges worked perfectly so he talking from the sun does not shine anyway. I spoke to Ebay and the promptly closed the request, he got the fuses the next day and I had to chase him and get him acknowledge that he had received them and that he was happy.
There are some sharks out there in Ebayland and it is also true, that a little knowledge is dangerous thing and this buyer found out just how little knowledge he had because I photographed it working just prior to wrapping it up and the photograph clearly shows the serial number so he cannot claim that the item he got was not the one advertised.
So you need to protect your back against these idiots of buyers and rogue traders.

Quite right. That is a fine example of

I'm an admitted TEA addict and I have too much stuff. But I try to be tidy about it and I don't like to have crap strewn about willy nilly or on the floor to trip over. So here's the shelf unit I debuted the other day for the 465B finished with the stain and poly. It gets it off the floor and offers some protection for the front panel since I don't have the plastic cover. It can also accommodate other portable scopes such as the 2465 or 453/454.
Right now it's place is in the bedroom as I showed the other day. Once the closet is cleaned out it will fit nicely in there along with the 7603 scope cart.
anyone knew this meter ? HIOKI 3238
for $200 is it good buy ?
i can't seem to find information about this meter on eev.
The only thing I can tell you for sure is that Hioki is Japanese. Beyond that I have no clue.

Yes, we discussed this very scenario with me on the other side when I bought my first FLUKE 189 several weeks ago. I might have been inclined to accept such a response as yours if it had been offered, were it not for the screws in the case that were very suspiciously absent as compared to the original auction photos. Tampered with is tampered with; clear evidence of dealing in bad faith.

Yes... she is a very, very naughty girl, and will do things to you and make you feel things that you didn't know were possible.
But she won't be there when you wake up in the morning, and she won't return your calls.
GIYF. It's a current model, and quite a bit more expensive from one of our most reputable vendors:
