In this context, I have no idea, Quicko iron does not use on their version. Here are the photos of the terminations on their supplied handle. EDIT; If you notice, the ball switch or vibration switch terminates on the -ve as does the black wire, this as per my earlier posting, this the 907 handle, the 9501 handle is exactly the same circuit but no sprew/pcb connections are made to the tags as per link.

Plan is to just remove the parts from the 907 handle then put them on the table and forget the 907 handle exists. Then follow those 9501 instructions substituting the mercury switch with the ball switch.
Out of interest, was the cable a silicone one?
You know, I'm not certain but it certainly feels like it could be.
The 907 handle is not a particularly bad handle to work with, just takes a little getting used to as it did back in the day with mains driven irons
but we learned how to adapt with the different size of iron handles from different makers and sizes.
EDIT, My handle is now with a local shipping company so it could be here as early as tomorrow.
BTW, in those YouTube videos of the LEDs did you spot the soldering irons that most of them were using, they looked like 907 handles to me and had K type tips fitted.
Not too concerned about working with the handle but the design of it. That PCB frame looks hooky as hell. The 9501 seems to be as solid as rock. It's far more solid even than the Weller handles.
Edit: I didn't see those videos - any references? K tip is what I want. I've got lots of boards of SOIC ICs to drag solder so they look pretty good for that.
The 907 handle in use is just as solid, trust me, my Katsu and and the Quicko both came with a 907 and I never had a moments trouble or concern using that handle on the katsu.
Hopefully better than my old Aoyue 937 handle. I'd be quite happily soldering away, watching it burn up a tip because the control loop was busted, and it would literally fall to pieces. The shaft that you screw on to hold the tip on would ping off, the tip would go with it.
And you had to turn the cable regularly because there was a break in it somewhere. I never bothered to sort it and just used it as a firestick. I'll do a post mortem on it when I get my hands on it again.

It has temperature control; that thermistor is part of the tip.

I watched a few Chinese LED factory videos yesterday and some power supply ones and that handle and tip appears loads of times, some of them in close up as well and the think that I gleaned from watching them is that they all seem to take quality as a core requirement and many of them have achieved world standard certificates and most of them do 100% soak / burn in test prior to packing and dispatch. Over here many companies operate on a 10% batch test, even companies like MK Electric who are the biggest producer of wiring accessories and power distribution for the domestic markets operate a 10% testing regime.
I used to work for Crabtree Electrical and Ashley & Rock, both were MK's competitors and both did a 100% test of each item and also spot checks at random points in a production cycle to ensure quality.

Judging by how I’ve been battering aliexpress this month I’ll be carpet bombed on the 16th.
I've got loads of stuff coming from Ebay, Banggood and AliExpress this month so my hallway could be a complete mess with stuff or completely devoid, it all hinges on the carriers.

Other half landed a job earlier this week at a posh salon so earns nearly as much as I do though. Phew. Perhaps I should retire now
